Bone Stock 2000 Cobra vs My Mostly Stock 95 M6 Z28 Vert in Memphis TN
So I'm tailing this chick in a Cobra through Memphis on Holmes road. I pull up next to her at an intersection where the road turns into a 6 lane with a turn lane. She gives me the look and I knew what was about to happen. I didn't want to race her because I was under the impression that Cobras would stomp on LT1s. Guess I don't know too much about Mustangs. We took off and from the line she pulled on me about a half a car. Around 45mph I began to catch her, and by 65 I had bought a half a car. Next time I looked at the speedo at 120, she was about a car behind and then she hit the brakes. Is this normal? I thought a Cobra should walk off on my car? I know Mach 1's do. All I have is exhaust and some 275s on the back.

I thought they skipped making cobras in 2000 due to some problems with them not producing enough power and Ford took the year off to resolve the issue and fix the ones they sold. To me they are not like the Mach 1's although the Mach 1 is rated with less hp. Some cobras ive seen dyno around 235-245rwhp and i think they were 320hp at the motor, but im sure someone will chime in and be more specific. Either way good kill OP

There was no Cobra for 2000. They did have the Cobra R. 5.4L 385hp/385tq many dyno's showed it was underrated that it almost put 385 to the wheels stock. . ..Ran 12's stock.
Maybe a older one. I had a 97 with full bolt ons and that thing was slow. Low 13's was all I managaed out it. Can't lie I got beta by bolt on SS/TA all the time.

I'm not sure if it was 2000. I just know it was the same body style as my buddies 2000 V6 Mustang (). And yes she was shifting and quite well I might add. Haha. And yes the bumper said cobra. I've raced a couple of mach 1s and both of them barely beat me. Maybe like 1 car or so. But I had never raced a cobra just because I had the impression that they were just beasts. i wouldnt race one simply because it seemed pointless. Its like me racing a ls1 ss in my stock lt1 z28. Just isnt a good idea. Haha. But here in a couple of months my z28 will be a different monster. Already started ordering parts off the list. Haha.

The o1 and o2 cobras were n/a cars I belive. N/a cobras are 4.6 4v motor run mid to high 13's so should be a good race for a stock or mostly stock ltx car
Good kill

It was the 99 Cobra Mustang that had the recall, and it was probably a 99 cobra that OP ran against. next time OP should post a sign in your window that says loser has to show **** if your racing a girl that is...

Um how was mine a fail 01/02 svt cobras are n/a.
03 they went F/I, that's a fact. So it was more than likly a n/a cobra witch is a mid13 sec car witch is a good race for a basicly stock lt1. Pleas forgive us gm guys for not knowing every little thing about the rustang's.

There weren't any 02 Cobra's in the US. They were all shipped to Austrailia. 02 Cobras were not a normal production model year.
There were 96-98 Cobras, 99-01 Cobras, and 03-04 Cobra's.
Sounds to me you raced an N/A 99-01 Cobra. Those cars were lucky to hit mid 13's with a good driver.
