Default A quick run with a 05+ GT

I was on my way to work this morning (0645 start) when I was cruising at 70 or so. I see two Stangs rolling up. One late 90's or early 00's and a 05+ GT.
We hit it at 65 or so when I'm in 3rd, he gets the jump and moves out to a hood length on me, I hit 4th and start to reel him in, at 120 or so we shut down and I got him by 1/2 a car. I was a bit surprised that I didn't put more on him. We didnt get a chance to talk, but from the exterior he had a hood scoop, wheels, and exhaust.
All I have done right now is:
02 SS M6
Lid
Hooker Catback
weight reduction (gutted interior) Car weighs 3180# without me
And suspension mods

I just had the car smogged so my stock exhaust manifolds and cats are still on

Your thoughts and opinions?

I put it in the first post.

Basically stock with a lid, catback, and weight reduction.

Op.. with that kind of weight reduction I am surprised also that you did not walk away harder on that 05+GT. With his (GT) weight at 36XX (plus his weight), you would have about a 500lb + weight advantage with comparable Hp. For him to stay with you, he must have full bolt-ons plus something else. I just do not see full bolt-ons alone compensating for you reduced weight though...to bad you did not get a chance to talk. I would be interested also..
Regardless..nice run!

If that is the case with the GTO..I would have to say that your car is running pretty damn good. Sound like that GT you ran just had a little something going on under the hood.
Just never know what you are going to run into sometimes. You take your chances when you pick a race. Sometimes it can be humbling...

Prolly ran a full bolt on car. Especially if ur car ran with a 6.0 gto. Car seems to be missing a few hp somewhere especially with that weight reduction, Hows ur driving? Not trying to be an *** but 15-20 hp doesnt mean much with an inexperienced driver behind the wheel.

My driving is decent. 3rd to 4th is a quick shift. I didnt power shift, but it wasnt a full pedal lift either.
Ive even put 2.5 cars on a auto C5 vette

oh well then sounds like you just caught a strong mustang and gto. The 05's respond to bolt ons pretty well and after all he did get the jump. Not all of us mustangs are super slow lol

So I just got back from the dyno shop and she did:
321 RWHP and 329RWTQ

I just wanted to make sure my car was running up to par for the little mods that it has.

Sounds like a full bolt-on/tuned car, possibly with gears. And a good driver, of course. Good kill
