I'd love to hear their opinions. So far this is what I've heard through countless searching...

Nitto NT05> last alittle longer than 555R but doesn't hook quite as well, close though
Nitto 555R> I can't say anything bad about their street traction, I just hate how small they are
Nitto NT05R> Monster traction, doesn't last over a week
M/T> Same as above but last alittle longer
Hoosier> Horrible for weather and wear but best for traction
Toyo TQ> Some say they hook great some say they are no better than 555R but don't last as long

Leaves me at a cross road...

My opinion is there isn't a perfect tire for true daily driving that will hook. Daily driving meaning to work and back and errands. So thirty miles a day or so. I'd be at the same crossroad as you. What some people think are ideal may not be ideal for me. I'm sure they were comprimising something, or they just have a suspension that allows them to hook on an ice rink.

Well I'm going to go with some of the new NT05s. Plan on some suspension work very soon also so I think I can get them to dig in off the line. Read some comments on this page...This is what sold me. http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...o-nt05s-3.html

One major thing I'm worried about is the DRs in the rear and my wife getting caught in the rain. I don't want her hurt so I think I'll just run my 15" wheels when I plan to run into another black LS1.

I have zero faith in a nitto hooking me at the track. I don't see them cutting a 1.5X, let alone 1.4Xs.

I will be driving it very little even with it being a DD (company vehicle and I have a van if it rains)... So it basically will be riding around one weekend night for 20 miles or so, once a month making a 120 mile round trip to a larger town... Then of course driving 120 mile round trip to the track when we go.
I think the MTs are the best choice.

Drag radials and rain do not mix. There is a local guy here that totaled his TA driving on a wet road with DR's. He has since built a new car but it doesn't see wet roads with DR's anymore. Experienced driver, doing the speed limit and bam car is gone.

LOL

I don't have to drive it to work as I have a free vehicle for that and gas paid for.
I have a POS van that will be drove when it rains or snows.

Any other time I will be driving the TA.

Slap some Hoosiers on it, save the gas money you would spend for it and drive the free van. Then slap a couple of turbos on that bitch and let it eat.

I'm already slapping a blower on tomorrow on my lunch break.. It would easily take me over an hour to slap duo turbos on it, probably 3 hours.

Got my eye on a set of bogart d10s right now, have a set of mts on them... We will see if we can lock in a deal.

You love us. And your DD and "toy" is currently much better than what I am running with. Hell I'm hoping for an 03 Silverado 2500 HD (cheap route, dad's 51k miles truck) or an 08-09 G8 GT (we'll see - go back and forth between driving whats free or dropping a little over $20k cash on a car when I don't necessarily need to)

Seriously, Unit/Jay/PSM/Gaunt...someone needs to make this happen. It is long overdue.

I cant hook for **** on Nittos at the track. The street, from a dig eh at best. 20 roll they'll hook. M&H racemaster are the track tires i use. Theyre making a more street friendly drag radial as well. Hook like the racemaster but lasts longer.
