OP..Nice "roll race" kill. (Actually for your friend in the SS)
Did you call the roll speed also??? From what it sounds like (correct me if I am wrong) you took all the advantages you could for the race and the Vette owner gave them to you. You should have did one roll race and one race from a dig. I'll bet the dig race would have turned out differently..

No offense but I have had this happen to me too many times in the past as some race spots I used to hang at. Could not get any 4 cylinder turbo cars to race from a dig. All they wanted to do was run from their sweet spot...and that's it. They considered this fair because I had the "V8" so I had to give them "their" race.
Does'nt anyone race from a dig anymore?

I'm not scared to go from a dig either. This race the mods are the same for the Cobalt minus the upgraded intercooler:

FYI, the Vette owner was the one who wanted to roll race.

Wow!!! Holy crap!
You beat a stalled, tuned, LS1 Camaro with drag radials from a dig with your Cobalt that has a tune and downpipe?

Damn..I did not realize these cars were that quick. Oh Boy...more mods comming for me..

He pulled on you like 1.5 cars from the start and you took that back from him plus added some car lengths of your own. Do you think you did this within a 1/4 mile?..approx

It sounds like the factory downpipe are very restrictive...Those are some good gains for changing out the factry one for an aftermarket one.

they are.

thing with these cars is the Tq.

the gms1 is supposed to take it from 260tq to 320....insane.
i went from 14.3 @ 103 quarter to 13.7 @ 105.5 with just the gm tune.

there is a ton on the table with a few boltons an aftermarket tune.
clutch, wheel hop and traction are all a big issue...hence lots of fun to be had from roll

I ran a turbo cobalt a while back. If I remember correctly the guy said it was full bolt ons, tuned and meth injection. We did a 50 roll and it was a fairly close race with him pulling about half a car at the end. Dont remember what speed we ran to probly 110ish.

I was pretty impressed by that car

Wow...pretty quick cars. I guess those are the advantages for a having a vehicle with FI. Small mods seem to produce good gain...

Would not mind having one of these cars...and its American also!
