If I did a mild cam and nothing else, I have no doubts I could at minimum stay even with him, but with a cam and LTS he would be history.
He could get headers cheaper. But he then really runs into the stock bottom blowing with to much power.

$379 plus they give 6% discount for being a member of a bunch forums.

I was including labor costs at Fastlane where he gets his tuning and all done. Sorry about that man, I should've clarified that part.

He is concerned about the engine though. So far, he has about 16k miles on the blower. Says he does a couple WOT pulls per week. IMO, its nothing more than a ticking time bomb, but for his sake I hope it stays together.

All good.

Ya I think it is just a matter of time till lets go. They could have a real safe tune in it. I mean you said he pushing what 6psi. That isn't much.

10psi, lol... but I'm sure that would drop maybe 1-1.5 with LTs, not enough to save him, IMO. He said its a safe tune though. Its nowhere near pinging or anything.

I think he will be just fine with his current setup if he gets LTs... A 2V can live at 9psi with a good tune. Wouldn't go any higher though of course.

It's the rods that let go.

They are weaker than water and can only hold about 440/450 rwhp before they become the ticking time bomb.

Looks like you had the best RT and he was never able to catch you. Both on DR's?

Both on street tires. I'm on some Hankook Ventus and he is on Nitto 555s. He pulled a 2.3 60' to my 1.95 though, so that had a lot to do with it. We ran again with him on a 2.2 60' to my 2.0, but it looked about the same. He's got me up top pretty handedly though.

Holy crap..2.3 on DR's..WTF???? I could probably get a better 60' if I put the spare donut on the rear and leave on my 3700rpm 2-step.

BTW...you did take him in the 1/4 but his trap was like 4mph higher..so it was pulling pretty good. I'll bet you were watching him creep up on you through the rear view mirror....

the Nitto 555's are street tires. The Nitto 555R's are DR's.

sounds like the $5K in mods would have been better off spent as down payment on a 2011 GT. Sad for the friend, but good runs for you, GTO

I read in an engine master's mag that T.E.A can do some great port work on the p.I heads. It showed 40+ on an engine dyno and I'm sure with a kennel bell atop them will do wonders!! Just suggestions for the Ford guy
