00 SS vs 98 Cobra
My car, 2000 Camaro SS M6: BBK LT, no cats, Magnaflow cat-back, K&N CAI, ported F.A.S.T w/ported opening to accept a 85mm throttle body, !EGR, !AIR, stage2 Diamond clutch kit, 4.11 gears, Edlebrock torque arm, panhard bar, Eibach springs, Frost tune. At the time it had 255 street tires on the rear.
Friends 1998 Cobra: CAI, 80mm MAF, mail order tune, No cats w/ x-pipe and 40s flowmasters.
Guy at my unit had been talking about his cobra beating corvettes and a few WS6/LS1 cars. I told him I would drive my car to work and see how his car fared against mine.
We had two races from a 35 and 40 mph roll.
Both races I spun launching in 2nd and spun shifting into 3rd. I still jumped a full car in front of him and them pulled about 1.5 -2 cars in 3rd and he stayed there after shutting down about 100mph. I figured I would have pulled away from him more. We pulled over and I told him he has a pretty strong car and I could believe he might could edge it out against a stock A4 LS1 car.
Maybe I should get some larger stickier tires and race again.

Good kill. I would expect you to pull more as well. Especially the cobra having 3.27 gears and its torque challenged.

Nice run OP, I would have expected you to pull more as well. But those 255's weren't helping at all.

The mail order tune probably helped a little but not much. The cat-less mid pipe would help, but he choked it up again with the Flowmasters. B-headed Cobras (96-98) are pretty slow compared to later models. I've ran into a couple bolt-on ones and they seem like they would be a good run with a 2 or 3V GT.

So, they need all boltons, a short runner intake, 4.30 gears, weight reductions.
to put it into perspective, the corba you raced would have a hard time beating a bolt 99-04 2V GT.

You definitely should of pulled him harder. As far as him edging out an A4 LS1... No way man. Your spinning is what killed you brother. My younger cousin has a 96 Cobra (same thing as a 98) with a tune, ORX, Magnapacks, intake, tune Demon Coils, Drag radials, etc. His car ran a best of 13.4 at 103 mph on a 1.9 60'. I'm running high 12s at 107-108. Back when I had my supercharged Cobalt.... well, from a 40 roll this happened.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pfh4...el_video_title

pshhhhhh like you know anything about 98 cobras anyways

L/T's, O/R mid pipe, pullies, shortrunner intake, big gears (4.10+), and a shifter are ones that you'd notice a drop in ET. All the CAI, TB, MAF, and a EWP are things you should do absolutely last if you run out of things and just want to buy something for the car.
Ya, what do I know. lol.

F8L BYT so your telling me a few bolt on mods similar to what this 98 cobra has, doesn't make a difference in a LS car? And I was only saying useless because bite ark 46 keeps saying useless lol ...
