Default Altima Type R.....

So I run across what I assumed was an altima with a fake type r decal. I was unaware Nissan made a type r altima until I Google it. Anyways, I love picking on the altima/maxima ricers so I pull up next to him doing 90 on the interstate. I downshift to 4th and prepare to spank *** as I hear the fart can open up. He punched it, I punched it and I didn't start putting lengths on him until 120+! WTF kind of altima is that?!? He stayed right beside me until bout 120. Then I barely pulled on him. He probably got that altima to 145 because I didn't let out until I buried the needle and he was only a length of so behind me. I am impressed. I want one for a dd.

What do you drive, a bone stock lt1?

They run mid 14's. They're basically a fwd, heavier, 03-07 350z (as far as speed is concerned).

Yeah its pretty much a stock LT1. Cai and exhaust. Bout 200 pounds in weight reduction. That's all I have for now. But its weird fast for an LT1 that's not even full bolt ons. Faster than all my other stock LT1s. Hell I've even outran a few ls cars in this car. Don't ask me how cause I have no ****** clue. But yeah i read they have the dohc 3.5 motor (same as 350z). They have a relatively low final drive ratio and a nice suspension upgrade. They look great to me. It doesn't scream rice, but when you look at them u can tell its not a regular altima. I love Nissan as it is. Id love a 240 with a 5.6 Titan motor in it.....

It was the Altima SE-R, and they run all over the 14's. Some have even dipped into the 13's.

well you figure that the altima SE-R is a 265hp V6, and you're a 275hp V8. factor in the fact that both of you have bolt-ons and weigh almost the same...the outcome is a drivers race at that point...

technology is rapidly changing

It's 260hp and it's actually lighter than a 350z. Unless he's modded or the OP has a stock lt1 I must say the run doesnt make very much sense. And like others said, it's an SE-R not a type R.

It was prob a SE-R i used to own one until i traded it for my z28, its a 350z motor and 6 speed. with i/h/e i put down 250HP to The front wheels, it pretty quick and comfy and sounded nasty. best car i ever owned.

my girl has an 05 altima 3.5 SE with a 5spd (different tranny, same hydraulics) and we spent $1400 replacing the clutch twice, master and slave cylinder.
upon further research, looks like we're not the only ones complaining about the hydraulics and premature clutch wear; we found hundreds and hundreds of complaints about poor clutch performance and faulty hydraulics.
not to mention poor customer service on behalf of nissan....

if we could go back, id've gone with an auto...

other than that...its been a great little car.

Interesting. My friend bought an 06 3.5 with a 5 speed from Budget Auto Sales. Little did we know, it came with Nismo cams, upgraded clutch, and carbon fiber hood, and trunk lid (painted to match the car). The car is pretty bad ***. He has put almost 70k in miles on since he bought it 2008. He beats the **** out this car on a daily basis, and it has only had an issue with a front wheel bearing. If I could find a car like his I would take it as a DD any day.

Here is a race with my SS. He drove from Ca a 6 hour drive to my work, we lined up on my way home. This is what happened. 100 degrees outside, and his car was completely heat soaked. We are thinking it puts out around 280 to 290 at the front wheels.

http://youtu.be/IWhzYhyhhM8

Notice how much wheel spin he has in first and second? You can read in the description, what he has run at the track, and all that jazz.

If he has full bolt-ons with cams and tune then 260-275whp depending on dyno. BTW, its a FWD V6, they all spin tires like hell, my stock auto se-r spins the same way.

Slight thread jack - My fondest memory of the SE-R Altima was while I was at school one night. This young man, just getting into cars really, knew I had a Sentra SE-R SpecV & he proceeds to tell me how he just got his Altima SE-R, blah blah blah. Well, he then asks me, "So, do you know anyone into drifting? I'm ready to learn & this car would be perfect!" The look on his face when i told him what he would have to do to that car & approx how much it would cost to get it there was saddening. I thought he was gonna cry (REALLY). He never talked about cars to me after that...
