Default Bolt on C5 vs C6, GTO & Viper

My car isn't anything that puts down huge numbers, but I'm very content with it considering it doesn't have any engine work or power adders. I should have thrown my ET streets on, I would have beat on the C6 worse and maybe hung with the viper a little better. All in all I was pretty happy with the results. Here's the vid. Filmed with my GoPro hero2.

no surprise with a c5z full bolt on pulling a c6 that much.... stock c5z owns the c6 base but full bolt on c6 vs bolt on c5z..... different story. Was hoping you would of stuck with that viper though... would of been a good race

Mine isn't a Z06. Just a c5. Yea, I was spinning really bad vs the viper, he was hooking pretty well. No surprise considering he had 345s on the back haha

I'd say you did well! Looks like a fun car from a roll with the 3.42's and stall

Man that was badass. I had the same mods as you when I was bolt ons. Miss it! Nice races. Get a cam and go back after the Viper!

Exactly what I was thinking. No way in hell was that a newer viper: my car would stomp your vette, yet I wouldn't put money on a race against a newer viper. I still remember the complete butt whooping I took from a ?04 or 05? Viper when i was full boltons/stall. Killed him until 80mph when he literally blew by me like I was standing still (alot like the way you destroyed that stock GTO).

Nice races though and good videos. That stall really makes a difference for you eh? If you go the cam'd route I would definitely recommend at least a 4000 stall though. Even with a 402 in my car I still don't make enough torque to be happy with my 3600 stall.

You were only 2-3 cars behind that viper. Basically your cars about as fast as a c5z06.

Forget the sts kit. Get a 224/224 cam with stock like drivability and be side by side with that viper next time

STS kit wouldn't be bad depending on how he wants to use it. I just think they are a bit overpriced. Wouldn't mind a kit for a C5 or C6 if it was just going to be a fun cruiser. Front mounts are still the way to go!

If I had a C5 (wanted one for the longest time), I'd rock an auto with 3.42's and a 3600+ stall and some prc 2.5 ls6 heads and "mild" cam

Sweet vids man. That C5 of yours looks strong. I'd love to run into pre-2008 Viper.

I plan on racing some of the local vipers as soon as the build is finish. I should be easily 460 rwhp + and going with a 150 shot but I wont be spraying... a little stock bottom end c6 ls2 vs that big 02 srt10 viper.. viper just has cai and a tune if I'm right... Praying the z06 clutch will hold up.....

I personally like the sts kits... but look into spending about 9+k if you install yourself... you can get the base kit at 8,400, fluids another 100ish, tune about 600+. If you get that kit it's well worth it to get the upgraded kit if your going that far anyways. Then look into a new clutch and flywheel because your going to need it after you punch it once, and a good diff. You can just buy a turbo kit and call it good, a lot of stuff has to go with it or else you'll be spending more on broken parts. .. Me personally I found a lot better ways to make that power... A good na build with a nice drive able cam and spray just my .02

Thanks for the kind words guys! I'm still not 100% on how to work the GoPro and all it's features, but I'm trying.

I really just love turbo set ups, the sound, efficiency, power, and potential they provide. My daily driver is a built Galant VR4, since I bought that thing I've been in love with turbos I'm not gonna lie though, a 112 LSA cam sounds just as amazing to my ears at idle. It really just depends on how much I get back on my income tax. If I can find a gently used turbo setup for 4ishk I think it'd be worth it.

Any details on the VR-4? Those are always cool cars.

It's a 92. Number 534/1000.

6 bolt block bored .020 over
wiseco 8.3:1 .020 pistons
eagle rods
no harmonic balancers
Road race eng. ported and polished head
hks 264/272 cams
RRE FMIC
frank stage 2 turbo (46 trim)
3000gt vr4 fuel pump

Made 310 awhp in 110 degree heat while cutting out. Needs bigger injectors, and a digital 6 ignition to reach its potential.
