Bolt on LT1 beats NEW Cobra
#22
Has anyone (meaning automotive magazines with way too much money and a list of insider hook-ups a mile long) lined up a Ford GT against a Saleen S7? The S7 is at the top of my "here's a blank check, go buy any one car you want" list... right next to the Enzo.
I've been playing PGR2 a lot lately, and I much prefer the handling of the S7 to the GT, but it's a video game so that tells us nothing much about the real cars i suppose.

well it's not all about the dollar value. you can get probably get an 87 mustang to outrun a new ford gt or viper for less than $10k... cost of car included. but i'd still rather have the viper or gt.
if you really wanted to play this game, as far as actual production cars go (yes i know unit can produce a 6 second mustang that goes to drive-thrus, but that is hardly a street car, and certainly not anything like "production"), a lingenfelter 427tt vette will outrun a GT, a viper, an s7, a mclaren, an enzo, and pretty much anything street legal on 4 wheels (and most of the stuff on 2 wheels too) for less than $100k. i believe they got an 8.95 @ 156mph on DOT legal cheater slicks, and R&T managed (Being the horrible drivers that they are) to back that up with a couple of low low 9 second passes at 150mph+.

did anyone see the latest Hemmings Muscle Machines mag?
Guy had a new cobra for a few weeks, best E.T. was 13.08 @110.
2.2 60 ft. though. So i guess you gotta get used to the car.

the GT also competes with the Ferrari challenge stradali and high end Porsches. It is a great value.
Have you been in a Viper? Interior looks like absolute **** for the money.
At least the GT doesn't look like a ford on the inside, it actually looks good.

Don't worry about the "ZO7" it'll hold it's own just fine against the GT and Viper. I'm assuming everyone already knows about the engine being developed for this thing right? 6.6L Alum block, 24V V8. My bro got all the tech specs on the engine and did the math...525hp (computer estimated). Of course it remains to be seen what really happens once there's an exhaust and EGR system setup on it. But I do know that GM is not going to leave the bowties sit in the dust for long. They'll be back on top soon.
