Go do some mods and ignore the negative comments, everybody that had something negative to say is probably running 12s or slower, a high 11 at best, one guy said "race someone whose trap speed is at least 100 mph" are you kidding me?! How about someone who trapping 115 or 120 or faster! Anyway, good kills have fun with your new car and do a TON of research before you do each modification and dont be afraid to ask questions and remember dont be discouraged by the idiots on this site!

True, but even being a cheapass...

Cam swap - 200.00 (used)
Longtubes - 355.00 (new)
Tuning - 500.00 (dyno tune from a good shop)

Still hard to keep the price down. Tuning adds a ton of money to the bill.

Default Mighty LS1

OP=== The LS1 is a 15 degree headed monster small block<<old school 350 is 23 degree> that was ahead of its time when it came out over a decade ago. The engine dominated Ford and Dodge applications except the Cobras.<Blower>. Enjoy your kills and the mighty LS1. The cars are expensive to mod especially for the best stuff but put a LID, some LTs, Y-pipe and 3" exhaust and a 100-125 shot with a good tune and tires/gears and it WILL run.

Bone stock LS1's dyno 295-310rwhp.... and the normal difference to get from SAE factory rated crank or "wheel" horsepower to rear wheel horsepower on a chassis dyno is 15% loss for a stick shift car, 20% loss for a auto.

So No, it's not a 305hp engine you have there, it's a 350hp engine classically underrated.
I made 313whp and 325 torque bone stock with the SLP upgrades( factory options BTW) (2" y-pipe and SLP dual dual exhaust) and through 4.10's. May have made more whp with stock gears at the time. and the stock tune was running a bit lean as well. so it could have made more for sure.

Dyno mileage may vary... I made 324rwhp/341rwtrq with the FRA mod only. Same car might be lucky to see 300rwhp at another dyno.

Why in the hell would you buy a USED cam and NEW long tubes....No wonder you think you cant go fast for cheap lmao

And again, you don't NEED a dyno tune, there are plenty of cookie cutter mail order tunes that will run with a lot of set ups, ideal no, much cheaper yes. Lots of mild cam guys when they hook up their AFRs that they arnt to far off and usually on the side of safety.

For around 1k I put LTs, ory, ls1 airlid, tune, plugs wires, alt, water pump, intake manifold gasket, Ac delete pully, and prob some other stuff that I can't remember currently lol

If you can beat either price for said mods you're doing better than most people.
That 200.00 cam price included the cam, valve springs, lifters, pushrods and the LT price included y-pipe. Those are totals after shipping and install as well.

Yes I can get a mail order tune, however the car is a daily driver and I can't be mailing my PCM off and waiting for it to come back. Not to mention a mail order tune isnt going to be a lot less and doesn't get me numbers to see what I've gained and I want that.

Please show me where you can pull off what I have for under 1000.00??

I didnt know you were including the springs and what not as well, lol so then yes I could see it happening. I also don't know the differences top end wise from LTX to LSX in terms of what is needed when changing cams. I know springs are needed with anything over stock lift in my engine lol

You have an ls6 cam, did you need to change anything top end for it? NEED not want lol as in would coil bind happen on ls1 springs with an ls6 cam.

Mail order tune, with tuning software and the tune cost me ....150 bucks? then tack on another 25 for the cable and thats like 175, I know diddly about ls1 tuning software and don't know the cost buying one, someone else would have to chime in on that. I know I did the LTs ory and tune my self over a weekend.

All my point was originally(and don't want this to turn into an argument) was for 1500 bucks he could do more then just an intake, LTs and a tune.

As far as I care the OPs car can stay stock so I have a better chance at a win if we ever cross paths lol

Oh wanna see your gains go to the track, it dosnt lie lol

Some people crack the 1k mark with just headers (and that's not counting install).

It's not like modding a foxbody that's for sure.

thats because they have to have a corsa and the most expensive headers. i have a whole 410 bucks in my full exhaust and thats with brand new headers and ory. people need to learn that just because the price is high doesnt mean that its the best you can buy.

I also make about 50 passes a year at the track.
Bone stock - 13.1 @ 108 2.1 60ft
Current mods before headers untuned - 12.8 @ 110 2.0 60ft

I'll have new numbers as soon as the snow melts and the track opens.
Jesus LSX is expensive, no wonder I love my lt1 lol

Nice #s btw, cant wait to see what you can lay down when spring comes.

Yeah...I miss my old LT1... but it took a CC306 to get close to a bolt on LS1 car which kind of sucked.

I have chrome headers and a stock cat back, its pretty much as cheap as you can get.

Stainless stuff is VERY pricey...even the TSP 1 3/4 stuff was 529.99 with ORY, 629.99 for 1 7/8.

Adds up pretty fast.

Stainless steel Ebay LT's and ORY on my old LT1. $275 shipped.

Haha have no clue why I bought those dang things. I think it is because I waited for all of the install threads from others who had them and showed little to no benefit of going coated PS vs. the ebay ones

No complaints here about $500 headers. I just chose a cheaper route that guys had great experience with. Damn Mr. Frugality inside me

Some of us couldn't afford 4vs to begin with, what makes you think we could afford nice headers? Lol

You guys are all a bunch of cheap asses. How about $1500 for coated LT's, Y-pipe, and high-flow cats. That's what I paid for the old FLP kit for my LS1. The Borla stainless exhaust brought the total up to $2400. LOL This was in 2003.
