I don't understand, so every video you guys see of a F-body beating the 2011 5.0, you will claim it has mods? My daily driver is a 2010 mustang GT, granite it's not the 5.0, but its close enough in the blood line. Its a fast car non-the-less, but every time I take my T/A out for a drive on the weekends; it has more grunt, much quicker on the get go, and feels overall like a better performance machine. The GT, is a great daily driver, more comfortable, and doesn't feel like you are hanging out with an axe murder. My dad and I raced both of them when we just had the GT, from a dig or 15 mph roll, my T/A would pull at least 3-4 car lengths up to 100 mph. I have been to Infineon Raceway once and ran a 13.03 @ 108 mph in my T/A with a crappy 0-60 est. Im pretty sure with a better driver mod and better tires the car could dip into the high 12s. My T/A has less than 30k miles on it. Runs like brand new unlike many other F-bodys. Not to mention mines is bone stock down to the tires.
The new 5.0's are fast, dyno more hp, but that doesn't mean anything. You guys are forgetting you have an LS series motor, a corvette motor. You're comparing a 10+ year old car to a brand new car. The 5.0's can run high 12s, but you know what, on average, they are low to mid 13s. I found you guys two videos of f-bodys handing the 5.0 its ***. On top of that, most of you psychos have the average bolt-ons to you f-bodys, you will eat one. A bolt on f-body will beat a bolt-on 5.0 for many reasons.
In the end, it doesn't matter, I'm just happy to see our American manufacturers competing head to head again, as well as trying to dominate the auto market again. Your lucky its not a Datsun, making that much power and kicking our ***.

actually in the video with the good music...the one with the fat dude driving the kona blue gt......looked like he may have been out front in the second run.
didn't matter though......was excellent music.

My young friend, the reason 99% of these guys are telling you the 5.0 is faster isn't because they do not like the fourth gen F-body. They all love or respect them and may have owned or currently own them. They are telling you they are faster because they are. That's the bottom line. I've owned my car since you were most likely in grade school and it doesn't bother me in the slightest that the new GT is faster than my car. It's a bad *** ****! Remember, anything can happen on the street.

i've got a friend.....2012 ragtop. just ran a 13.9@101 with his v6. i honestly didn't think the ragtops could break into the 13's........

The 5.0 and ls1 is a good race.. But I have a 99 Trans am with LT,ORY and magnalfow cat back and I also have a ls6 intake with a slp lid without a tune. Do you guys have any idea what I would be putting down as numbers on a dyno or what I would run at the track?

I call shenanigans on those high rwhp numbers (many of which were found to be dyno'd in a gear other than 1:1)... when a boss puts down less and is rated higher I just have a hard time believing it. Not to mention the 1/4 mile times don't match up with that kind of rwhp and the curb weight.
If not mistaken 370-380ish is what a new 5.0 puts down in stock form when dyno'd in 5th (1:1)... you can easily inflate the numbers by using 4th though.
Livernoise Motorsports claims they put down 375rwhp then 391rwhp after 2000 miles were put on their test car. So who knows... maybe 400rwhp is possible and I'm just jealous.

Me too. My car runs alright for a bolt on car, but I would suspect a good driver in a stock 5.0 would pull as the speeds increased. A guy tried to get me to run him in his stock 5.0 one night about a year ago, but I declined. My stupid clutch hydraulics are having issues with the pedal sticking to the floor, so I didn't want to waste his time as it won't go into gear at high rpm. Would've been fun though.
