Definately underestimated a GTO

Definately underestimated a GTO I'll be honest I didn't powershift though. Anyways guy at work with a Pontiac GTP talked some friendly smack yesterday saying he has a Pontiac that will walk my Mustang. I told him I hoped it wasn't his (again fun poking) he said no and showed me a GTO on his phone. Talk started and I tried to get some other employees on my side but I guess it was the whole chance to put down the boss kinda thing so they all said I would stand no chance. So I told him I'd run him. He said it was a stock GTO but he planned to put exhaust on it soon. Was a 5.7 with a 6 speed. Well phone call was made today and GTO showed up. I start my car up and let it warm up some. Then we rolled out to the highway. I requested a dig run and they said that was fine, the GTO doesn't spin. So as we pull out I get my tires warm a little. I explained the 3 honks and I wanted him to honk the races off. We line up and I bring the RPMs up (won't say how high, I learned that lesson) and I look over at him. He starts honking and on the 3rd I slip the clutch. I jumped out a solid car, hit 2nd and pulled about 2 more, shifted into 3rd and I'd say he was about 5 cars back maybe more by the time I hit 4th, then I let out. I have no top end so I'm sure he would have come flying past me shortly. He then wanted a roll race. I'm not fond of this so I say no more than 40 and he agreed. He honked it off and LOL...through 2nd I got a carlength (went fast), hit 3rd and started a steady pull and by the time I ran out 3rd I had about 4 lengths. We get back and I get accused of having nitrous. 
I told them they were all crazy and I told them I'd win. Then told them to get back to work. All in all I underestimated the GTO. I figured they were a driver's race against a stock 2v. They might actually be a driver's race against a stock 96-98 Cobra. 
Oh and he agreed to run me at the track soon, we will see how that goes.

Hahaha As an interweb aquaintance I say you have been a hit or miss lately and this is most proabably a hit!

Lmao love the title, had me fooled for a minute into thinking you lost. Mm&ff got a mid 13 out of an ls1 GTO. Not too horrible... Little quicker than a 2v for sure.

GM def made a good choice when they stuck the LS2 in the GTO for the last 2 years.
But the ride and build quality are amazing compared to an F-body...
