MIKE..this is what was told to me by the service tech's where i worked, and they worked on them every day...he actually showed one's from a same year 'vette and same year firebird...i would think that a ase tech would know more about them then i would...service manager said the same thing...i agree with you on the dings and on the 5-speed 305's they were decent for there time...

HIOSILVER..i sold a '89 trans-am with the tbi in it to a woman who was dying for a t/a...i used to detail her car and as i said, it was so slow, could not break the tires loose...170hp ???...more like 140...

It's a lot more than the horsepower that matters. Those Mustangs barely tipped 3,000 lbs, that Camaro is pushing 4,000 lbs, and the torque on both of them is probably pretty similar.

Again thats wrong. Most dealer service manager and techs are clueless. There is no difference between them sans the years. If there were 305 owners would have upgraded to 350 runners-they are exactly the same.

I remember Tony and his car from New Jersey. Black LX. Guy could drive. Too bad 5.0 aftermarket was not much and he didn't have much spare money when he had that car. He and Steve could have really competed. A shame he traded it in

Yeah, my 1981 TA had *I think* 95 HP by the time I got it (V7). Started life as a V8 with 200 or so. Not the best performer, that's for sure.

You're a year late. The '95 Cobra R was rated at 300hp.

Boy do I not miss my 'ol TPI. Great looking car for its time, but the TPI left a lot to be desired. My LT1 6-spd car was like night & day. A whole .7 quicker than the '91 Z28 was stock for stock.

I miss my 86 firebird then again it had a 350 swapped in it. But it was pieced together by a mechanic shop and was in almost every day for like the first 2 weeks I had it. Sounded badass, paint and wheels were nice, interior and mechanics of it were ****. Miss my 93 z28 too. Broke down right after I bought it though; needed battery, alternator, and ignition switch(forget the exact name). And the day I got it back I was driving it around and did a run on a road, blew a rear tire and went sliding into a ditch. The hatch gap on one side was very tight and the other side was huge! My mom wouldn't buy new wheels and tires for it so it was traded for the 86 above for $700. The camaro now lives in my neighborhood with mismatched wheels
