I always thought the 2v and especially the 3v 4.6 V8's sounded sweet. But the new 5.0 doesn't sound that great.

In the realm of new muscle, the 7.0 in the Z06 takes the cake, followed by the 6.1 and 5.7 in the Charger/Challenger, IMHO.

I was behind a modded new 5.0 and it sounded DAMN good! GT500 muffler swap makes them sound amazing.

The new 5.0s sound sick IMO. 7,000+ rpm V8 with a decent exhaust on it can't usually be faulted.

MEH. The LS9 in the ZR1 produces the best exhaust note short of a V12 IMO. Took a ride in BREDWNR's last night and the sound is amazing! My Mustang sounds great with the X-pipe & Borla but nothing compared to that.

bullshit on the LS9

Someone find the video of the 180* header Corvette C5 or something. I'm at work and can't but I remember thinking at that exhaust note.

C5? You're saying the LS1 is your favorite sounding engine? That's new.

I stand by my earlier statement, LS7 is the best sounding. Hands down.

That thing sounded like **** going down the drag strip. Poor imitation of a Ferrari V12 if you ask me. Just a bunch of noise.

I can't see what that is. Stupid work blocked youtube. But I thought the Vette with the 180 headers sounded sick! Also the GT40 with the 180 headers...

The new 5.0's sound pretty good. My buddy with an x pipe, and an axle back has that 4v cobra sound. There's a video on my channel of his car. Posted under the same name as my original post.

...how'd we get talking about sound again lol?

I haven't heard many of the new 5.0's that I like. I don't know if the V-tec changes the exhaust ( ) or if Ford has done something different enough with the 2011+'s exhaust system to change the way they sound.

The newer Vette's sound pretty sick with factory exhaust. I think they can open and close it from what I understand. Was at the track last weekend and a newer Grand Sport that was cammed and stalled was probably one of the best sounding cars I heard that day. Friend of mine said that it had the stock exhaust and I was very impressed.

Been a long time since I can say that a GM car sounds better than a Ford from the factory.

I really wanted this sweet Z06 *ridin dirty* according to dude's license plate, but girl friend wouldn't even acknowledge me on this one...guess I have to buy a damn house first lol. But I see him "ridin dirty" from time to time and....................

Plus, I believe we already established that an LT1 and 2v stock for stock are pretty much dead nuts. The point was, when the bigger mods like heads, cam etc. come into play, the LT1 is light years ahead.

And the LT4 had a couple more things working for it than just the heads, like a larger camshaft, rocker arms, freer-flowing intake manifold, and higher compression pistons.
On the note of motors from 20 years ago...How about some LT5?

And to add to my earlier comment on loving the 4v 4.6 at idle, I love a 3v with good exhaust rolling down the street. sounds racey to me for some reason.

Nothing really was just stating my LT1 was a good match up for a 2V and no one should be surprised or butthurt when a 2v beats one.
