have anyone raced a 3000GT VR-4 ?

Ok not to keep this tread alive but Alteredatmoshphere has the claim to fastest 3000gtvr-4 non NOS. ful exhaust and interior and street tires, and the weakest link is the transfer case, any thing over 7k and they break on a hard takeoff.

The car runs fine. The prob i have is the products mainly are towards ls1/6's so it does not help me too much, but on nitrous it will
Dont worry, hopefully i will have it sanded and painted and do all the body work myself this summer. I need to go and put a new battery in the car, and also change the oil and tune the carb up on it. It has been running a little leaner then i want. But it should be done soon. I am lookin at 400 fly hp, mid 300 to the wheels. But that is on my non agressive set up. on the bigger car and 100 to 125 shot, look for near 500 fly hp. we will see when i finish though. the donor axle in the car for the moment is the stock 8.8 from 69 with a no posi and a 2.73 gear

i raced a 3000gt vr-4. We tied, only because the driver was being gay and let off at 60, which is where i was passing him. He got me off the line by a little, but by 60mph, we were already side by side and i was gaining on him fast. All he had then was an exaust i think. Now he has the boosted up some also. When i race him with his boost turned up ill tell you all how it goes.
Also 69 mustangs do look nice, one of my good friends has a 69 mach 1 with the shaker hood. It gets tons of attention.

StealthXtreme: I think you are being a bit liberal in your estimates about 12.1 in the quarter. I, for one, own a 3000GT VR-4 as well, a '95 w/ only 76K miles on it. I have modified mine past yours (Intake, Exhaust, Boost Controller, 83mm Mass Air Flow, Air Ratio Controller, 600 HP Fuel Pump, 660cc Injectors, DR500s (TD04-13G turbo upgrade), Carbon Fiber Driveshaft, Underdrive Pulley, and Stage II Heads (probably 500+ HP at the crank)...and I would be happy to get a 12.1 timeslip. I'm sure guys like Matt Monett from Dynamic Racing would pull 11s on my setup (in fact, he has run a 11.57 w/ a very similar setup). However, for the average to very good driver, a 12 flat or 12.1 on my setup would be a decent time. I don't think you'll see a time much better than Matt's on that setup. Now as for you running a 12.1 on YOUR setup... let's post up some timeslips so we can all believe you.

Another thing: I would be running at 15-16 psi boost (the most you can run w/ 660cc injectors, DR500 Turbos, 93 Octane, and no additional power adder like Nitrous, Propane, or another way to cool the charge air. I think Matt Ran his 11.57 with Propane, so I (with my setup) would be nowhere close to his time.

Nothing faster than 10.88 there for any Stealth RT-TT/VR-4. They're good looking cars IMHO, just not that quick....

You're welcome. I don't have much of a VR-4... I would never consider being able to keep very much at bay w/ a 12-second car ... but I very much enjoy its styling, and its color (pearl white). Now as far as keeping things at bay, I DO have a '91 300ZX TT and I'm about to drop a 3.6L stroker motor into it (it's a stock 3.0 liter motor). That, coupled with the turbo upgrade I purchased, along with 720cc injectors and an 800 HP EFI Fuel Pump and lines, should do pretty well I'm thinkin'.

LOL.... I'm rather excited to see how this turns out. Not sure if anyone has ever stroked the little VG30DETT (300ZX TT) motor to 3.6 liters. Hopefully, it won't overheat, and it will remain reliable, and I won't get --->

Well, just felt like posting and that 12.1 may not be far off. I'll explain.
I ran 13.0 at 13PSI, which as you know is 1lb over STOCK boost levels. My good friend JeremyG ran .4 faster with race gas and opened downpipe. Now I went for a baseline, and 13.0 is not a bad baseline. Open the downpipe turn up the boost and run race fuel, my guess is same results as Jeremy if not better. He couldn't beat 13.2 with stock catback, I've already done that. So 12.5-12.6. Add in the fact I did this with stock clutch, time to upgrade which will be soon. A matter of weeks actually. 12.4 hopefully. That's at 700 bucks worth of mods right there... mid 12's for 700 bucks is not bad at all.
Remember, I didn't say these were gods, just trying to clear up they aren't slow. Here is my best out of 3 runs, 2 of them at 13PSI. As for your mods, you should easily be in the 11's with some good tuning. Just gotta drive it like it should be. I've already beat people with more mods and higher boost than I on 9b's. People accept these standards on the 3/S, and don't stand up, or PROVE what they can do. Matt Monnett does it, and it fuels me to prove and shatter these standards.

Yes, I know this isn't insanely fast or anything, but I'm 16 and extremely happy with the money spent.

400 TOTAL for mods..... 12 second car with the boost up to 15 and opened DP... I won't complain.

well sounds good and nice vid.....
let me warn you know though, before another mod sees that, you need to reduce your sig just a little bit. try around 400 x 200, but i am not sure on the exact max. just take it down a little bit! Thanks

Sorry I couldn't see your video -- codec error. $400 in mods? I think your intake cost at least $100, your downpipe costs at least $250, your wires around $100, and I won't charge you for the copper plugs .. LOL. Now if your manual boost controller costs
-$50, then you'd be correct. OK, you're not far off.... but then you said $700 worth of mods after you put in an aftermarket clutch. Again, good luck finding an aftermarket clutch (that's worth anything) for $200. But if you really got your parts that cheaply, let me know where I can find them so I can tell my buddies!
At our trim levels, we can boost the vehicle up to 15-16 lbs on regular pump gas (91-93 octane). To take it past that boost level on stock turbos (even w/ race fuel) is non productive.... they will already be maxed out. I believe your next mod would have to be exhaust... then MAF and ARC (which unfortunately are expensive). I would like to see how you progress..... don't think there is much more in the car w/ your current mods. I would like to see what that aftermarket clutch does. Good luck at the races...

Another thing you might want to consider -- I'm not sure what the laws are in your state, but in my state, my car is street legal. And if I wanted to pass even the toughest emission standards or any state, I would merely replace my aftermarket downpipe w/ the stocker. That's why I didn't damage my precats or gut them. Who knows, you may be able to still pass emissions even w/ gutted precats.

i love benchracing. it doesn't cost money, nobody gets tickets, and anything is possible if you have enough imagination.
see, for instance:
milla here is gonna beat unit's cobra, because right off the starting line... NINJAS, ninjas are gonna jump out of the bushes and throw shuriken at unit's tires, blowing them out, and sliding him sideways into the curb.
remember, "anything can happen on the street".
(sorry unit, i needed a fast car, and yours was handy.)
