I dont see why he thinks an f-body would need more than heads, cam and nitrous for that lol. A bit cocky there.

Anyhow, Matt just recently installed the whipple on his car & it has yet to see the strip, but we will know what it runs on Aug 21st.

As far as comparing a Z06 vs. Cobra, & a WS6 vs. Cobra, these are 2 VERY different comparisons. A WS6 weighs almost 500 lbs more than a C5 Z06, which makes a HUGE difference in the outcome of a race.
My z06 weighs 3150 and I'm pretty sure my formula weighs like 3400 or somewhere around there. Yeah, theyre not totally equal, but I'd be willing to bet he'd still beat him with a set of heads and a 100 shot. I have ported 243's on mine... And that was with me on street tires rolling into the throttle. Maybe a 125 shot for him, but still, it is what it is. I expected much worse of a beating if that was a 2.9 whipple cobra.

problem with street racing is its just that... Street racing...

who knows... he could be sand bagging even more than he did by saying it was a pulley ported eaton... it might be a 2.3 car... it might be a 3.4 car on 11lbs...

who effing knows but the owner... IF he even knows...

Nobody is being cocky, you guys are making this a big deal just because that chevy lost lol. I don't know if you guys missed the part where the OP himself said his car traps around 112 with 390rwhp. It should be trapping a little more. Like i said not all cars run the same. For these actual 2 cars the ws6 probably needs 700rwhp to run even with the cobra lol. I think he was running the same times or worse then a bolt on ws6. Im not trying to be a dick but it is what it is.

His car should be knocking on the 120 door with 390rwhp.

High 130's or more for a properly setup 2.9L Whipple car. 138mph should be no problem.

Yeah i agree 112 is mild bolt on territory. But usually the Heads/Cam nitrous setups i see are 130-139mph cars. One down here on a 200shot decimated a 137mph GTR from a roll, all on stock bottom end. That's why i said he's a bit cocky if he thinks a heads/cam nitrous setup wouldn't be enough.

Their gonna need race gas, meth or e85 to get to that. I'm figuring the guy was on pump. My friends fully built 03 runs around 140. We're talking ported heads, cams, fuel system, straight axle and all the goodies. I think he has a 3.4 whipple and makes about 700 on pump. It's not "easy" for them to trap 138.

The owner of the cobra hasn't said that because he knows nothing about the trans am. That was me saying heads/spray won't be enough.

FYI i saw a 04 cobra with 600rwhp 2.3 whipple go 10.3@133 in 95 degree heat with the d/a being around 2700. The only weight reduction is drag wheels and a solid axle. My other friends 630rwhp trapped 132-133 in a more then full weight 04 cobra. The 2.9 should go mid to high 130's IF once again IF it's driven properly.

For you to say that it takes more than heads and nitrous to beat said cobra is a little bit misleading when there are f-bodies trapped 130-140mph with Heads and Nitrous.

Do you know anything about OP's trans am other than what's in his sig? do you have any idea how his car would react to nitrous? every car is different in response to mods, and saying something without factual data is stupid(not saying that you are)

that's probably why your statement would sound cocky for some people.

Thanks but I know all about those cars. Just saying cobras around here are mostly north of 600. If eaton is still there, it probably doesn't have anymore than 650. Most of em have kenne bells, whipples, or twins, and if u want to play u better have 700 or more.

what eaton cobras do you know of that make anything close to 650?? A strung out ported eaton barely nears anything over 500... and even thats not the easiest thing.

Anything that isn't worried about a healthy H/C setup with a nice shot on it has a pretty nasty street car. Should be 135mph all day long.
