Get a strall and DR's and only run him from a dig at the track. That is your best bet!

When I still had the ls1 and auto in my car with bolt ons I raced a 5spd vortech charged 02 gt and it was a door to door guy said the car was around 350whp so it sounded about right. I'd say with cams he's making 370-380 at the wheels. With that if he can drive he will beat you but who knows maybe he'll just blow the tires off. I'd get a nice 3600 stall and some sticky tires. Circle d even makes a nice budget 3200 converter for 400. That and some good tires and you'd be seeing mustang head lights in your rear view.

3800-4000. Anything less is a waste and you will want more after getting used to it even on a DD.

Get some used salad wheels and some MTs or better yet two more stock rims so he doesn't notice.. With drag radials you will demolish him from a stop. Cam not needed to out run him.

My car is a 98 ls1 z28 camaro Mods: Slp lid, ram air, bellow, bigger TB, K and N filter, better MAS, full equall length slp headers with slp all the way to the tips, 3.42 rear-end. 100 pound weight reduction, Tuned, mine is a a4... my guess would be 380-mmmaaaayybeee 400 hp if we go to the local 1/4 mile who would win?? or is it just gonna depend on who hooks?? also anything else cheap i can do for another few ponys i am thinking cam and intake we def get him to see my tallights haha what do you guys think???
Thanks
Chevy was saying what? 345 hp for these cars? & they ran 13.5, 3.6 from the factory right? With your mods you'd still have to know what you're doing to match those numbers, if you haven't figured out where to launch the car, you'll be in trouble if the Saleen driver knows what he's doing.

I think his cam is the biggest unknown. If it weren't for that, I'd say the cars are pretty much equal.

3200 stall MINIMUM. Trust me, "been there done that" and I'm not one of those guys who crows about how every auto should have a 4,000 stall converter or that those big stalls "drive like stock around town" or any of that BS. 3200rpms is pretty much perfect for a stock cam DD like yours. Slicks and skinnies should be fine on a stock stall or even that 3200 stall. Rearends don't break very often with auto transmissions even when running drag radials. It's the stick shifts that break them.

What is the trim on the Vortech? I could definatley see him at 450whp. I know a guy with a V1-T Trim and CMS stage 2's, and a CX Racing front mount and on only 8psi he's making 456whp/416wtq. So I could definatley see him making 450whp with those mods.

Put a Polluter cam in it, a set of 235 TFS heads with a FAST 102 intake/TB, a set of 1 7/8" long tube headers, a 4200 stall and a 9" with a spool and 4.56 gears. As long as you are rocking sticky tires you'll out run him.

Coming from the Mustang world, and now to my HCI SS, I can personally say that a HCI LS1 would absolutely wipe the floor with a 400-450 rwhp 99-04 2 valve. My 04 gt had cams, 100 shot, etc (400 rwhp) and it would hang with, and beat in some cases blown 2 valves with 40-50 more hp than me.

You're not putting down anywhere near 380 hp with those mods. More like 320-330 rwhp.

Mine has similar mods and it's tuned and it put down 327/337 on a Dynojet a few weeks ago.

Can you drive better than your friends? Not doubting you, just wondering.

That's definitely a legit question, but the cars that i'm mentioning definitely have good drivers. Even from a roll (where the driver mod isn't as crucial) I could run with blown 2 valve stangs making 50 more hp than me. And I can tell my HCI setup on this car would crush my old stang...no if, and, or buts about it lol

Well so far the but dyno lol, but it's without question a lot stronger than the stang on the nitrous. I've given 2 people a ride in this car already (they've been in my Mustang many of times on the spray) and their but dyno said the same thing lol.
