WE FINALLY RACED GUYS!!!! LOOK AT LAST PAGE!!!!

A rich kid from my town wants to race me we are the two fastest in our schools. we go to separate schools... he just bought a 2002 Saleen Mustang Mods: vortex supercharger, comp cams, fuel pump, injectors and full basani exhaust. he claims he is running 500 hp but i think thats a bit high i was thinking like 450hp... dont know if it is a manual but i do know saleens are HEAVY

My car is a 98 ls1 z28 camaro Mods: Slp lid, ram air, bellow, bigger TB, K and N filter, better MAS, full equall length slp headers with slp all the way to the tips, 3.42 rear-end. 100 pound weight reduction, Tuned, mine is a a4... my guess would be 380-mmmaaaayybeee 400 hp if we go to the local 1/4 mile who would win?? or is it just gonna depend on who hooks?? also anything else cheap i can do for another few ponys i am thinking cam and intake we def get him to see my tallights haha what do you guys think???

I think if done right, a Vortech supercharged '02 Saleen with a driver that knows what they're doing should rape you no probem. But who knows.

I'll mention a friend of mine who had a Vortech supercharged '02 GT which was done real nice and had headers, full exhaust, good supporting mods, 3.73 gears and a small(er) stall auto. I'll just say that bolt-on F-bodies were a joke to race.

If he can't drive then you have a chance. I wouldn't describe cam and intake as cheap for a few extra ponies but if you can get that done then I think it will be a really tight race.

get you a nice stall and some gears that will wake that thing up greatly cams really dont add much power on the modular motors from what ive heard. depends on his boost and like stated before if he can drive. I say get stall gears do a small cam by no means is that cheap but i will kill him with those mods. or just get nitrous if your into that

I raced a vortec auto 2v car on 8lbs that had full exhaust etc. We were dead nuts to 80 or so then the unicorns came out and carried me ahead through the magical 3rd gear.

I don't see you winning by much if you even do, that is.

And id say you make every bit of 380 crank hp..

Your gonna be in trouble if he can drive at all. I would guess you to be around 310-320 whp?? Amd i dont see why he shouldn't make 450whp.

Its just a supercharged 2v. Id be shocked if it made 400rwhp. Still dont think OP will win. I had a friend with very similar set up as OP except with 410 gears and with my car which may make 350rwhp on a good day and got him pretty good.

Stall your car and rape his *** from a dig. Probably give you the biggest advantage over anything else HP wise dollar for dollar.

You said the Saleen is heavy as ****? LOL! They weigh exactly what an F-body weighs, about 3,400 lbs. But, that is heavier than the regular GT, which barely passes 3,200 lbs. Unless it's a convertible, but you didn't say it was.

So if that's true he's the same weight as you, far more mods, probably a manual, I don't know if they made auto Saleens or not, supercharged. Yeah, go to the strip and prepare to get raped. A n/a 2v would be a an easy kill, but supercharged you're the easy kill. Anyway, get some vids and post some times, I'm still curious.

You don't make 380-400rwhp and you are going to have a rough time against it.
Best bet would be a stall and cam, and run from a dig.

Recently coming from the Mustang world (I had a 04 gt with cams, nitrous, etc) and having several friends with blown 99-04 gt's, i'd be very surprised if he puts down 450 rwhp. If he truly is, then he's riding the razors edge with the stock internals. From a roll he will most likely beat you though

Thanks for all the replys i think my next step is ls6 intake, cam, and a stall.. it is my DD but im not afraid to take a bus if i break something haha and is there any baby supercharger set-ups reletivley cheap just for another 50hp? i was also talking to my dad who has had muscle cars and drag cars his whole life and saif dry shot of nos 100hp 10 pound bottle would be perfect just so when i need a little more what do you guys think?

2800 stall and either a shot or cam. I don't think just the intake would be enough. I'm sure you want to win, not have a close race.

A stall will help a lot.. A while back a formula ls1 stalled and full bolt ins gave a hell if a run to a cobra..it was here in te kill section .im sure some one remembers.a 100shot or a cam should do the trick.. Post up a vid of the race when it goes down
