Default Turbo LS1 Miata vs. Ferrari 458 Italia **VIDEO**

Hey guys fresh motor!
650rwhp & 655rwtq @ 12psi boost.

Took her out... Its a 6 speed car with no anti-lag and a semi-steep first gear so no boost til 100 ft or so. 2.1x 60ft... raced a Ferrari 458 Italia (Bone stock) and I beat him! *Barely!*

I ran a 7.3 or 7.4 @ 102.5 or so mph...

My car back halfs 40mph in the 1/4th so its a 140+ mph car as it sits...
I think it'll do 141-143 the way it sits right now... It trapped 138 about 6 months ago and that same pass trapped only 98 in the 1/8th mile...

My best run of the day was 7.3x @ 105.7mph... 1.9x 60 ft.

Nice!

What are the widest set of tires you can put on that thing?

CAr moved pretty good.

I thought it would run faster though even in the 1/8th with the power and weight of it. What was ET in the 1/4 to claim worlds fastest? I found some others that run 10.4's N/A with LS1's.

Ohio, I have to put it in 4th on the 1/8th mile runs as my 3rd runs out of gear at 95mph, sucks, because I finish the 1/8th in 4th AND in the SAME gear I finish the 1/4th <-- This is why my 1/8th times suck, especially trap speed, I lose so much momentum and acceleration through shifting in the 1/8th my trap speed significantly suffers. Simply a taller tire or a better rear gear will put my car in the 112-114mph trap in the 1/8th.

About 7 months ago for example at Texas Motorplex Quarter Mile track my car went 7.7 @ 98mph and then finished the race with a 11.5 @ 138mph, it back halfed 40mph due to the gearing and the "ease out the hole" 60ft. <-- That was the "Record" pass... and please notice I said FASTEST not QUICKEST. There is a Nitrous Miata running 10.3-10.4's but has a significantly lower trap speed than me.

Now its doing 7.3 @ 105.7 with pretty much the same 60ft (2.0 60) (about 1/10th faster).

Oh and appreciate all the comments guys!

The car has a 225/50/15 Micky ET Street DR on it right now. No idea how much bigger I can go but its working quite well as it is.

Your car moves out no doubt. Specially on a roll.

Most people will only see fastest and think best 1/4 mile times. I think if you can get a better rear gear can pick up some. But main thing is getting some tire under the rear. I have seen some with 9-10 inch wide tires but maybe they had solid axle or something.

I can understand how or why people think that about "fastest".
I 100% agree with you on the rear gear giving me a serious advantage, but only through the 1/8th mile as I go through the traps at the top of 4th in the quarter mile... And I have to use for 4th for the 1/8th mile too :-/

I need 1 inch taller tires and I can probably use 3rd for the 1/8th!

Other than that I don't see why I should upgrade tires as they don't spin on the track.

just say "highest mph" the whole "fastest" "quickest" thing confuses everyone as we all have different beliefs about what means what lol... i know the feeling. stock gears, converter i'm runnin what i believe is the highest mph NA G8. and it's only got two passes on her so far with no weight taken out.

nice build, car is a wicked mph beast.

You run some skinny tires for all that power, with some more meat out back you could launch harder.

Quick is a matter of time while fast is a matter of speed. So in a race the quicker car is the one who gets there first and the faster car is the one with the higher trap speed. for example if i ran an 11.3 @ 126 in the 1/4 while the other car ran an 11.5 @ 128, i had the quicker car while he had the faster car.

Fast can also be used to describe time, so your statement is flawed...with all do respect

e.g.
Fast turnaround of professionally prepared copy, from any rough draft or submitted text.

and:

If I get there faster than you, I will arrive before you.

If I get there quicker than you, I may be there at the same time as you, but I spent less time travelling.

on a side note...who gives a f***? 20 little kids were murdered and a bunch of Hero teachers tried to stop him. sick sick world.
