That depends who you ask. The Ford guys will say yes the 5.0 is, the Mopar guys will say no, the 392 is faster.

From what i've seen, the 5.0 is faster stock for stock.

of course I'm talking about the OP's car versus a stock 392. stock for stock a GTO gets walked away from by a 392 - though a 6.1 SRT8 is a good run for a stock LS2 GTO from what I've seen in person.

the fastest time for a bone stock 5.0 is 12.2@114. Fastest stock time for a 392 is 12.0@114

I have yet to see a stock 5.0 beat a stock 392 anything. Not saying it can't happen but with equal drivers the 392 is the faster car, i have driven both and raced both.

Tuned 5.0 vs Stock 392

5.0 - 6 speed, intake, tune vs Stock 392

Stock 5.0 vs Stock 392

Stock 5.0 vs Stock 6.1

I've never had a problem with a Goat, from a dig that is. Roll is a different story, but roll racing is ghey.

i raced one, a 12 srt8 green too, in my 5th gen i had headers and a intake tune. i pulled him by 4 or 5 cars by 110 or so. he had 2 ppl in his car tho i was alone. it was also a auto and im a m6.
they do run good for a stock car, i would think the srt8 would pull a 5.0

Most will say I'm only saying this cause I'm a "mopar" guy but all things being equal a 392 is faster than a 5.0, barely. If any two stock cars are a drivers race its these two.

Think about this tho. I owned a 6.1, a 6.1 and LS2 goat is a drivers but I'm not claiming the 6.1 to be faster bc I'm a mopar guy...

Tuning came out for these about a month ago. Probably had a canned tune, intake, exhaust. Putting it near the high 11's. if it did have spray, probably just a 50 shot as a few guys were spraying 50's-75's with no tune and getting decenr results.
