I think a stock E55 on a tire may have ran that time actually. Or damn close.

I would like to run, if only I was local. Oh well!
Here's my car the last event I went to. Had fuel issues at the end of the track also. You can here it in the vid. But I'm the only E55 to run a 1.49 60ft. When the fuel problem was worked out it trapped 129mph.

Actually I really love the thought of that year, but in the 600 series. But I don't know how the maintenance or aftermarket of the 55 vs the 600 compare.
But I would love to have a twin turbo V12 with an exhaust.

V8 The V12 cars are where things get $$$$ the hydraulic suspensions are finicky and can stick you with a couple thousand dollar bill easily. Even if you do the work yourself, although again you save BIG by doing the work yourself. Also the V12s have 2 banks of coils that like to die every 70-80k miles or so at about $800 a piece. These are also the cars that new cost well over $100,000. You gotta pay up to roll that caliber of a car. They do run mid/high 11's with nothing but a tune though. All about how deep your pockets are ans what you want. The E55 is the unicorn of high power AMG's as it had the cheaper air suspension, it was the cheaper model while still being spacious and a nice respectable luxury sedan while having the legendary and bulletproof 55 Kompressor drive train. One of the best kept secrets of the automotive world in my opinion. I LOOVVEEE this car. Ive owned dozens of cars, all American except for an old 300zx which wasn't really by choice. This AMG reminds me of the big powerful American cars we all love dressed up in a tuxedo and on a few cycles of roids. Very straight forward V8 RWD setup we know and love and not hard to work on. Tons of car guys have moved into these and there's a ton of support for them. I think a lot of people would love these cars if they got to know them.
Blown V8 RWD sedan with 469hp (under rated) and 516ft lbs stock. Hard to go wrong.

The new v8tt power plants are making around 600whp with just a tune iirc; gotta love them German muscle cars.
The outgoing 6.2L v8 exhaust has the best exhaust note in the world IMHO. My LS3 Vette has a Corsa catback and I still gotta give it to the Mercedes.

for an NA street car my car can hold its own. Even against the almighty E55, supercharged 5.4 w/ 470hp and 500+tq...Let me get my D1 and 2800 stall in and see then. FI vs FI.
*** a merc!

Yeah bro, let's compare a 3,000lb 2 door, minimalist sports car to a 4,100lb 4 door luxury sedan that can keep up with said vehicle.

never said it was a luxury car. Said Muscle Sedan. Same class as the E55 in my eyes.

The G8 is newer, has larger displacement(due to being NA and American), and is focused on performance with decent interiors. And it was cheaper.
So yes, strapping a supercharger on a g8 will probably yield a faster car than a stock, or even tuned e55 amg, thanks to the larger displacement of the g8.
But both are nice vehicles, and I love both. I think I prefer the exterior of the g8, as well as maintenance costs and mod prices. But the E55 takes the cake for the interior. Makes pretty much everything else look like dog **** in comparison, in the same price range.
