..i've driven that ZR1. Most impressive factory car I have ever driven...for having such mild mods. Drive/ride/listen to this car, see how stock it is,..and then tell me you wouldn't want one.

Very sick car,..well done keeping it shiny side up.

Who needs drift charms when you've got rosary beads.

Well saved! My g/f got into a situation like that on a wet road doing over 80 when the guy next to us decided he wanted to be in our lane without looking!
We fishtailed all over the lane & probably came within a foot of the guard rail when we swerved to avoid him, she handled it really well & got us traveling back in a straight line.

First thing I thought when I watched it. ZR1 doesn't do all the work! But after reading a little more and watching the video, I can see how most people would have crashed. I've went sideway going fast before, its terrifying, you just have to know how to correct it without panic.

Very nice save! The ZR1 would have needed a new driver seat if I would have been driving. My *** would have consumed that seat with the pucker I would have had after that. Yikes!

Losing traction at speed is very dangerous. When the car hooks up again you get violently launched into whatever direction you were turning to counter steer.

Kudos to the driver, he did everything right. When its happening that fast it has to be instinct, so you know he's been there before .

Racing an M6 once...(actually over a period of several races and several miles)...I finally got enough of him trying me and not takingthe hint,..I finally downshifted to race him,..before I'd just lay into it without downshifting....but this time I downshifted,...once I got to make full power/boost,..the car blew the tires off @ 145mph. Skated across another lane,..and back into mine. If you blinked, you missed it. **** happens quick, thats why you always gotta be prepared. Stop double fisting your cell phone while getting on it.....disaster waiting to happen.

I agree, but he still won IMO. Saving the car from going into the wall=winning!

I'm not going to lie. It takes skill to keep these RWD's straight. Going from my AWD to this Camaro can be scary sometimes.

That was a nice save, glad the car didn't get wrecked.

My question is, why would you power shift if the car was already spinning in 2nd? That was the problem right there lol.

The driver of the ZR1 should have known he was spinning significantly and shouldn't have shifted the car into third like that. He has no feel for the car and shouldn't have shifted when the car was killing the tires already. I don't think he was ready to drive that car and is lucky he didn't crash it. Don't blame the tires, that was some stupid **** right there.

I'm thinking that he was thinking that by shifting into 3rd, it would knock the rpm's down just enough to stop the spin but continue accelerating. So in order to stay in boost, hopefully stop spinning, and try to catch his GTR, he shifted hard into 3rd. But, the ZR1's massive amount of low end torque kept the rear wheels spinning into 3rd.

You can also see him reacting to the car spinning by slight countersteer so he knew the car was spinning.
