LS1 GTO? I'm not sure how that's possible... 12.8 is the quickest confirmed f-body time and given the weight, IRS, etc... even with ridiculous DA I don't see the GTO pulling that off.

Really depends what you consider stock. The fastest stock one with a DR went 12.69 without a tire I think was 12.7xx both at 110. Both done on an optioned out SS (heavier). So I could see it happening on exactly the right day with the gto.

Stock for me is completely unmodified... DR is not stock in my mind. Fair point though.

I call BS on a 100% stock 04 GTO being able to trap 110. Thats the fastest F body trap speed 100% stock. Add 250lbs. Not happening. I owned an ls1 GTO. The ls2 version was leaps and bounds faster stock for stock.

I kind of agree. The LS1 goats are dogs, I expected the 5.0 to pull one with that little bit of mods.

I agree with this too though LOL.

No doubt i raced one in my L99 camaro. I pulled a easy bus lenth on a 6spd gto ls1. And my car is trapping around 108-110 mph. I thought they trapped around a 104 or so with mid to high 13s ?

I believe GMHTP or MM&FF ran one against a Mach 1 and it went 13.4 or 13.5 @ 105. I believe on a 'perfect stars aligned' day you could get one to a bottom 13 maybe. It's pretty hard though to beat those drivers though.

For what its worth,

I ran a 13.11 at 106.85mph in my A4 LS1 GTO back in 2007. (Only mods were: Intake, Cutouts, Tune.) Stock manifolds and catback. And spare/jack removal was only weight reduction.

I was able to dig this up from an archive.

Left.

RT-.026
60'-1.989
330-5.581
1/8-8.482
MPH-85.77
1000-10.997
1/4 mile-13.117
MPH-106.85

60' sucks too.

Several of my friends have had/currently have ls1 GTO's and with competent drivers they were 13.5@105 cars in 1000' da pretty consistently.

-844 DA and some mods got you low 13s....
That's exactly what makes the claim harder to swallow IMHO.

In the old days you could nurse a lesser HP car on a regular radial. Today's cars and the power they are making, it just seems that drag radials or a sticky tire should be allowed in the mix.

I know, I know, Ford guys are the root of all evil, say outlandish things, make crazy boasts, hang stipulations on anybody we race and make futile attempts to re-write history.

Tire technology has continued to advance though... the POS tires my car came with pale in comparison to what a stock Mustang GT comes with today. They get better results on a 235 width tire than my 245 RSAs could ever manage. A DR nets drastic results for almost any car and is usually one of the first mods done for a reason. If you can order the car with DRs from the factory then it's stock... otherwise it's modded IMO.

That is a good point and well stated…

But IMBIESHO, tires are routine maintenance items, thus wouldn't stand as a 'mod', per se. Which has long been my position on other similar devices such as air filters and thermostats.

Understanding that there is plenty of room for disagreement… that's just my perspective on it.

There is always room for disagreement. Some people refuse to accept K&N filters as a mod though they flow more air than a traditional paper filter (I think Fram and a few others have high flow filters as well).

For me it's as simple as this .... there is a stark difference between putting OEM brake pads on a car and Hawk HP Plus pads for example, it alters the performance despite being a simple wear item that you replaced during routine maintenance. Anything giving you an edge over the next guy should be disclosed in my opinion... doesn't mean I am right but that's just how I feel about it.

Just ran from a 60 roll with my buddy driving. Got him by about a length
