LMAO! I would take that $70k+ "turd" any day over a base Vette, yes even a LS3. Being able to run like that against a Vette while riding in luxury is well worth the money over the plastic Vette.

Rather have a amg over a vette lol. Plus you can pick up a low mileage c63 for around 35k or less. I think it did well for the weight difference.

Having driven extensively the C63 both regular and PP version I'm a bit surprised, coming from my daily driver 08 Vette. seat of the pants wise the C63 hauls absolute *** in the lower gears. Did the money on dashboard test with a buddy and he could easily get it in my Vette whreas in the C63 he was pinned in the seat. Gotta run a C63 myself to see how I fare...nobody local wants to play.

i would take a C63 over a Vette if it came in stick...but in that case i'd probably get the CTS-V...just can't beat V8 with 3 pedals in a lightweight (albeit plastic) car IMHO, though I am absolutely obsessed with the C63. wish my Vette sounds like it that's for sure.

i can't find any C63s with decent miles that's still under warranty for under $40k around socal, and i wouldn't want to own one outside of warranty. They seem to be relatively reliable minus head bolt issues, but like most euro highway bombers they're $$$ if crap ever hits the fan.

then there's the "issue" of 2012+ C63s getting the upgraded MCT transmission, which IMHO is a huge upgrade over the previous 7g tronic tranny, which shifts much slower. If the C63 came with a DCT it would absolutely rape faces. hopefully the next gen doesn't disappoint (2015 model year).

so basically i wouldn't want to own a C63 older than 2012...and 2012s are $$$ lol. bah. a 2009 with a tune and long tubes runs in the mid-120s from what i've seen/read.

sorry for the OT.

I owned a '08 C63 and several other AMG cars for that matter and I would take my C6 over any one of them any day of the week! Riding in a fast luxury sedan is cool but it doesn't compare to a true 2-seater sports car IMO.

Apples and avocados man. No way you can put the zr1 and a base model c6 in the same comparison imo.

I hope that some day, that I can set aside my ZR1 trim and compare it to the lower trim of the herd.

Well... While that's true, I actually spend more time in the hope that I just get to drive a ZR-1, seconded ONLY by the hope to RIDE in one.

Sadly... I am not worthy.

But every day I get up hoping that I do SOMETHING that shoves me over the edge. Naturally... I broke out early today, so this one is a wash. But there's always tomorrow!

AMG>Vette

Base vs base all the way to the best they have to offer...

considering the price difference it shouldnt be any other way...

Clean runs and good kill by the AMG. It is heavier and more aero challenged, so all you vette nutswingers stop hating. Vette put up a fight for sure with some good shifting.

I would like to see an LS3 Vette do the same race against the AMG though.

But..but I bet you've never owned an AMG vehicle in your life, let alone a vette. Btw, I've owned six AMG vehicles, so I guess that makes me the only real "nutswinger" in this thread. Lol

Which one, ZR1 or ZR-1? There's a difference.

I love C63 AMGs they look and sound so nasty stock, but Idk about owning one over a base C6. Better comparison to a CTS-V, which I'd take over an AMG because I'd be worried about repair costs and modding them seems to be expensive. But they sure do gain a lot of power with little mods

Good point, those Benz's aren't nearly as reliable as some think. Just stop by a MB dealership and see how long the service line is. I swear I put more miles on loaner cars than I put on the C63 the short time I owned it. If you're stuck with one without a warranty you're f****d!

That damn throttle limiter crap they (base model) come with from the factory that limits the opening to 67 or so percent. I think even the "P" optioned cars won't allow you to open the throttle all the way up.

Lol, those DOHC one's are pretty stout too. I still would love to own a Torch Red '95.
