5.0 vs 6.0
That's the problem to be honest... Mustang guys stick together (I was reading about a guy on corral who broke a rearend and another foxbody owner (that didn't know him) let him crash at his place and helped him fix it the next morning) but LS guys are nothing like that. Most think they are a unique snowflake and demand respect. Cruising down the highway you have a better chance of giving a mustang guy a thumbs up and being acknowledge than you do a Corvette, Camaro, or Firebird. Obviously it's not ALL of them but the percentage is pretty damn high.

I have a bunch of friends that have 4th Gens and they are always arguing amongst themselves, it's like a ego contest. In the end though, they will help each other out, but will talk **** the whole time they are doing it.

Coming from a 4th gen camaro owner this is how is for me if you wave or give thumbs up....
4th gen and older fbodys, wave, thumbs up, talk ect.
1990 and older anything, wave, thumbs up, talk ect.
5th Gen Camaros, Ignore you, might run
Vetts, Ignore you, wont run
Mustangs, ignores you, usually wont run unless its a muffler only 2v
Rice, ignores you, usually not worth the time.
GTOs, ignores you, wont run
ect ect.

I could see a 5.0 like that being a 120mph car. I've seen a slightly heavier one run 118mph without headers.
Did it look like the GTO was nosing over after the shift and never really picking back up to anyone else? I could be mistaken but something seemed wrong...either driver or with the setup. I would expect a closer race.
Either way good kill to the 5.0

Thats a 3.73 geared stock intake manifold 5.0. Should be VERY snappy which would explain how it jumps out so hard. If thats a full weight GTO... with its mods listed... i 100 percent agree to this outcome. Its all in the setup of the little things. I crushed A LOT of GTOs with more power then me... took down quite a bit of slapped together maggie/procharged ls2 cars in my H/C ls1. This is obviously not a stronger running GTO as mine was a 122-123 mph auto car with stock gear and intake manifold. This 5.0 is headed in the right direction and the GTO looks to not be. GTO owner needs to start playing with the rest of the car before trying to fix the problem with more power.
From my experience, vette guys are the ******* worst, of course not all but you know what I'm saying. 4th gen is close behind. GTO's around here have a snobbish vette-like attitude. New 5.0 guys are kinda douchey as well, I'll admit, because a lot of them don't know **** about what they have, they just know what an old 5.0 is and think they have the new 5.0 so they must be hot ****. New Camaro owners strike me the same way, unless I talk to them and they prove otherwise.
There's a sense of community on the corral, it's pretty cool, I think it's what happens when a platform has been around as long as it has (1979!), you have the middle-older aged guys who aren't young cocky whipper snappers anymore, who've done the dance and know the same thing you may be having trouble with. I wouldn't even be able to think about tackling some of the wiring in my car if it wasn't for people just being glad to help with advice. Fun **** when Ford changes wire colors between years

the absolute worst vette owner/scenario... is this... and i know most will agree..
C5 convertible, automatic, chrome wheels, spoiler, chrome tail light trim, lame vanity plate.... with a rich old man driving. They are the absolute worst because there cars are hideous, they trap less then 105mph, and they think their **** doesnt stink. Ive tried acknowledging them at times to be nice... but im always given that same look...you know the "pssh" face... yea **** that lol

Yep, and the vanity plate is always something about the convertible or that it's a rocket ship.

, I hope I could be in the 12sec club like you some day bro
