Got challenged by a new 5.0 f150, short race but good.
So it's getting colder here as the days go by. Northern North Dakota normally doesn't get cold untill after holloween. But it's been uncommonly cold so far this year. Tonight's low was 28*, too cold for the beginning of October.
I was bringing my two jet skis to my old mans shop to store them in the parking lot by the trees after giving them a healthy dose of Rv antifreeze and oil mist to the valves for winterization, when low and behold a new regular cab short box ford f150 5.0 follows me out of town. I'm thinking great, I've got 2000 lbs of jetskis and a trailer behind me and this wicked beast of a pickup is presenting itself with a chance to put this unicorn race truck to shame.
I'm heading out of town at 50 mph because it's pretty cold and my truck hasn't really warmed up enough for me to feel comfortable with any faster speeds yet. Thinkin nothing of this pickup being in a race mood with him seeing that I'm pulling 2 jetskis and all I think about kicking myself in the *** for missing out on this chance to go head to head with a dragon slayer.
As luck would have it tho, this guy has heard of me and my pickup and my apparent willing to race when the need arises. He turned off on the road that I was heading to and flagged me down.
He asked me if my truck was as fast as everyone told him it was. I chuckled and told him it does ok for a little street truck. He begins to tell me how he has a intake exhaust and a tune on his truck and how it would walk mine without looking back. I laughed once again and reminded him that I'm pulling a trailer with jet skis loaded on it.
This doesn't phase him and he continues his boasting on how his truck has a muscle car engine and blah blah a tune. The **** talking finally got to me and I told him I'd drag him down the road pulling the trailer even tho I'm only 3 miles away from unhooking it.
The race goes down like this. I'm starting in a mph where a high first gear would work best but as I'm pulling 2 jet skis on a not so light trailer I decide a lower rpm second gear will do my best for helping the street tires hook. He honks it off since I dont have a horn, 1,2,3 go! About 30 mph we take off.
I spin, not bad enough to worry about the safety of the skis and my truck, but bad enough he pulls ahead. I let out and hammer it again and begin to make back up this lead I gave him. By the time I'm at the end of second gear I'm a long ways ahead. I'm talkin almost a bus and pulling, I wanted to slam 3rd and run it out to 120+ but my jet skis weren't really looking for for the challenge lol. I let off and slowed down from about the 100 mark to a nice approach near my last turn and waited for him to come chat.
He pulled up with his jaw dropped saying he didn't expect my truck pulling a trailer to go by him like that especially after he started pulling right away due to me spinning. We exchanged congrats and smiles and went on our separate ways.
I wish I had the gopro with, it would have been funny watching a replay of my truck, trailer, and jetskis bouncing down the road pulling on that truck like it did.
My truck is a carbed lq9 with ls3 heads, a cam, and a stall. I recently went 96.5 mph in the 1/8th and nothing's changed since then, other than new axle due to my stupidity of not letting off while the wheels were hopping all over the highway and taller street tires vs the 23.8" bfg radials lol. He said he was boltons, and a tune on a 4wd truck.

Trust me I wasn't expecting to race while pullin the trailer but this guy wouldn't let up on the bs. I wouldn't really have called it a race more like a 30-100~ mph sprint with a f150 attempting to not get beat down hard. Damn cold weather and horrible street tires gave the guy a split second glimmer of hope haha.
I've got plans for a supercharger install on a forged stroker build this winter but if time doesn't allow it I'll just finally fill the bottle in the bed and spray this pig.

Thanks dude, I don't know what this kid was thinking so I put the hammer down on him. Everyone's doggin on you and your truck but that's half the fun right?!? At less you get races. It was just fun to shut up a know it all **** talker lol. I'm sure he will go tell all his friends and someone with a mustang or somethin will get ahold if me next year but they will be in for a surprise cuz hopefully my truck will whine louder than them by then lol
