Z28 kicks its ***, even in the rain.

Also the gap between the Z28 and Shelby is the same as it was between the ZL1 and Shelby. 2sec is im not mistaken.
Im just in awe because all of the BULLSHIT the GM/ZL1 nutt swingers talk about ring this and ring that when all this time the ****** is STILL slower than the Shelby around their beloved riiiiing!
LMAO

track has alot of straights were raw power helps. so diff days diff times. not a very valid test. let put a gt500 on a 110 degree day at the drag strip. and then the zl1 on a 45 degree day then compair. its not gonna work .

[QUOTE=snake95;17786331]The point of the thread is that so many nutswingers jumped to the "handling" front when comparing these 2 cars because the GT500 raped in the category that they were embarrassed about (straight line), and they would SPECIFICALLY reference "the Ring" as their ammo. Now they see right in front of them that they should reference a different track or competition if they wanna talk out of their ***.[/QUOT
this test has been done over and over and over. zl1 curves and gt500 straights . can a shitty driver change the fact on either yep. so ur point is invalid

Completely gleaned over what I said, huh? Looks like my head was never in the sand, eh?
Did I say Laguna was poo? Did I say the gt500 handled badly??? Nope. When YOU poke your head out of the sand you will realize just how much quicker the ZL is through the corners to over come the acceleration deficit. If ever thing goes well we'll all betalking about how well the next of these cars are.
Definitely a balanced car. The Camaro has a definite advantage in the twisties, while the GT500 is clearly faster on straightaways. But the GT500 obviously handles well enough to be competitive even on highly technical tracks like this, which I'm assuming was the point of this thread.
Edit: Watched the whole vid, and it is just amazing to me that two cars priced below $70k would absolutely destroy just about anything made in the entire world prior to ~5 years ago. The speed the ZL1 carries through corners is phenomenal, and the fact that the GT500 is performing the way it is with a solid axle is nuts. Contrary to what people might say when looking through rose-colored lenses, these really are the "good ole days."

Not just any camaro the ZL1! aka "The GT500 Slayer" "The EASY 11sec car all day" "The RIIING Master"
Bottom line is if the ZL1 was that much better in the turns like the fan boys make it out to be then it would have gapped the **** outta the Shelby so much in the turns that its straights advantage wouldnt have been enough to pull off the quicker lap time. Thats not the case though. The ZL1 is only SLIGHTLY better in the turns and the Shelby is a **** TON better in the straights...
Results is... GT500>ZL1

Congratulations Ford, the GT500 has locked up 3rd place in the Ford v. GM sports car battle. The ZR1 is still king of the hill, with the Z06 Second. Let us know when the Ford GT comes back for a real challenge.

I wouldn't go so far as to put the ZL1 down. The chassis tuning is great and the result is a car that handles with the best of them (literally). So it's not that the ZL1 doesn't handle as well as people say, it's that the GT500 handles better than some people want to admit.

Typical ghey *** gm fan boy move. When their camero gets beat now all of a sudden a mustang is a sports car and gets compared to the Vette!

Lol just keep hurdling the fact that all the ZL1 lovers had big mouths then got embarrassed that their chest thumping was based on a false pretense. Good vette fallback, though. Maybe if you talk about the vette more, people will forget all this gt500 zl1 nonsense. Let's avoid the topic of the zl1 falling short at all costs!

You guys still don't understand that GM simply won't make a 5th gen that can beat a vette....
Unlike Ford, who has nothing better in overall performance aspects, GM has the vette. They're not going to make a 5th gen that can lap a vette because they want to run with a GT500... It's that simple.

Dude we're fanboys talking about cars. If GM or Ford want to make a 2000whp street car I'm sure they can. It's not rocket science. It's just not business. This is all about sales and profits. The 5th gens make profit for GM, why spend millions re-designing when 90% of people who buy 5th gens aren't going to go out and find a gt500 to race it around the parking lot?
