2014 C7 Corvette vs 2014 GT500

But the Ford guys had an inexplicable bout of reticence for a while there, so the idea was dropped.

Your talking about my quarter E.T.s? Im not building a track car. My car has 5 bolt ons. Drove it to the track, ran on street tires, drove home. Sure guys with less power can run faster. Im not running on slicks and skinnies launching at 6k and cutting 1.5 60fts. But if i did those things then yeah id be running some killer E.T.s. I have raced many a bolt on LS1 over the years they aren't running mid 11s thats for sure.

It's like OVA doesn't realize that Ford has a brand new platform coming out, and everybody has known about that for some time now. They are doing the GT500 as a last hurrah for the platform that is not only on its way out, but arguably the last of the "old school" type ponycars. I'm not the only one that feels this way either. Starting in a couple of years, both cars will be built on very modern platforms with IRS. I have no problem for a car that maximizes what a brutish car can do with "old tech." That's a lot of the reason I prefer the C4 to the C5.

haha yes basic bolt on LS1s all run 11s. You ever take a look at the sigs of people on your own damn site? I see a lot of people taking more than basic bolt ons to run in the 11s unless they are cutting 1.6ish 60fts. In fact cruising around i see a decent amount in the mid 12s. You would thing that the smooth scaley skin of the catfish would cut through quarter faster.

ZR1? My understanding is that Ford didn't even know Chevy had a ZR1…
That Ford built the '13 500 purely to compete against the technologically superior ZL1.
Which they did with a straight axle chassis, an engine bored to its max… and a bigger blower.
Hopefully, this as a means to buy some time to offer something that can compete with the rides that follow the stock, 11 second, NA, 30 mpg rides Chevy customers are driving off the lot today.
Cause that engine and that blower ain't gonna do it… .
But hey! Maybe there's no limit to the size of the blower a manufacturer can reliably install on a Mustang? Which if that's the case… they're SOLID GOLD and lookin' good!

Just one note... the primary differences between the 11-12 GT500 5.4, and the 13- 5.8 is the TVS, and they removed the cylinder sleeves, which is where they gained the extra .4ci, a slightly different cam profile, and larger injectors... slightly more efficient intercooler. That it pretty much it other than some suspension refinements.

Truth is these moves are so statically planned they happen YEARS ahead of the release date. I just finished reading an article about the LS7 stating they started development on it in '03. That's 3 years ahead of its first release. A new motor design can't happen over night.

Coming back to this statement. Take a second of you catfish hugging day to check out 11sec tech. Lots of guys with H/C/I set ups in the mid 11s at best. Must suck to put basic bolt ons on and run high 11s then throw a whole H/C/I on it and only gain a tenth or two.
