Full bolt on LT1 vs full bolt on 2012 5.0
#21
I'd have broken it off in that 5.0. I've yet to have one get anywhere close. They're not competitive with us.
But I agree that THAT LT was runnin' pretty good, for one that couldn't pass a 5.0. My guess is that he's runnin' stock heads which have been sitting on the car since it rolled of the line and onto the lot.
I'd suggest he ******'em off and get himself a nice valve job and and tune… and run it again. He'll enjoy the next run, MUCH BETTER!

You're pretty close on the gear figures. 4.10's with a 27" tire is about equal to 3.90's with a 26.
Problem is I try to avoid thinking in "bandaid" terms. LT guy maybe could turn it harder. But from what I've learned about lt's is they should not be turned very hard on the stock bottom. Tolerances are to close according to my bud that built one.

I spun my stock bottom end to ~6400 for about a year and a half and it didn't like it very much. After around 10,000 miles of daily driving and track days the hot idle oil pressure started dropping down to nothing.
...I also put ported heads and cammed it at 145k though, so I obviously didn't really give a damn how it felt about it LOL. I knew it wouldn't last.

Which is why I'm trying to figure out why it says "Full bolt on LT1" in the title, yet the description says it has LT4 H/C. An LT1 with stock heads/cam isn't going to be anywhere near a 5.0 with those mods. Regardless, the LT1 in the OP is obviously running very strong. Really makes me want an LT4 Corvette.

Maybe against an aggressive H/C/stroker setup like yours, but a 5.0 with full bolt-ons isn't exactly a slow car...

It wasn't 20 minutes ago I applauded the 5.0… .
You confuse my intolerance for douchebags with a hatred of Fords… I love the Mustangs.
They provide such a marvelous contrast for the better cars.

Well, then I suggest you shut the **** up.
