Yes I know, but @ 100k it might as well be 300k because the average person will never own one.

Just like vipers, how often do you see one? Once a month and its a 5-10 yr old model driving around

I'm actually impressed by the 5.0, and for the price damm!

You don't see many Vipers for the simple fact there weren't many produced. For example, from 2007-2009, Dodge sold only 2,089 Vipers. Now compare that to the number of Corvettes sold. Get my drift?

I see where you're going, but to say a Corvette "might as well be a Ferrari" when a Ferrari cost 3x more is a terrible comparison. Period

I can see where he is coming from. Corvette was supposed to be the blue collar workers sports car...affordable. Now it's starting to get where it's priced out of a lot of blue collar workers income.

That's exactly why GM offers a "base" model Corvette with an MSRP of about $51k. One of the best bang-for-your-buck automobiles in a very long time.

I don't recall many "blue collar" guys riding around in C6 Z06's or ZR1's for that matter. That was usually the white collar crowd that did that. Lol

Ftr, a fully optioned C6 Z06 Carbon Edition was pretty darn close to 100k. Keep in mind GM still hasn't set a definitive price yet for the upcoming Z06 model.

Well the people that were trying to figure out "why those exotic cars cost so damn much!" compared to the Corvette are getting some idea... once you start adding features and high quality materials, costs simply go up. The C7 is finally approaching the quality of materials that you see in the lower-level Porsches and Ferraris and (surprise surprise) the price is getting higher.

What's funny about that? That is the way 90% of Americans buy cars. Who the **** has the ability to save $50k for a brand new Vette or F-150?

True. It is just different financial ideology. I'm old school, think things should be paid for with cash, own my home outright, etc....I have a neighbor that is a gen Y'er, masters deg in Biz and owns 2 successful businesses. Very smart and successful guy. At a Christmas gathering I had a disagreement with him regarding 'owning' things. He could pay cash for everything, but his view is to pay the minimum on everything, don't really 'own' anything, let the banks own it and take all the risks. I said that was what caused our banking collapse, and he agreed but his view is based more on business and if things get really bad he walks away with his cash while I'm left trying to sell everything. He is playing by the rules the banks themselves set up. When I see pro athletes, Kanye, Nic Cage, etc. go bankrupt, they take away their 'things' but they are still cash 'rich'...I sorta get it.

300k is a ton of cash no way around it. Only a matter of time before someone with their 300k Ferrari says **** it and buys the vette and has the cash to build it from the ground up

I say take that 100k vette and dump another 60k into it and see what kind of supercar is going to hang with it. I mean there is another 140 thousand dollars you can spend to make the car faster, or buy a house? Maybe a boat AND a brand new F-150, hell get a 1 year old truck and a donzi to tow behind it.

can't really say 'if you can't afford 300k, you can't afford 100k'

Thats like saying 'if you can't afford 30k, you can't afford 10k' and thats definitely not the case.

Everyones finances are different, although anything in the 70k and up range is going to be rarer than anything in the 20-40k range.

Either way, The Z06 is where it should be at with pricing in the 100k for what it is.

The Z06 has been a limited production car since C5 days. Check the build #s. Something like 8k/year avg, IIRC.

In 2010, they produced 517 Z06's. 3400 in '09.
