see it works like this... if you have a crowd of people who think that putting a big stuffed purple barney doll on the roof makes a car look badass, and they're the ones who are judging the car shows, the car with the biggest purplest stuffed barney is going to win. that doesn't mean it looks good to the rest of society.
it's all in what the scene you're in appreciates. hell i have friends who thought that the flowmasters i had on my mustang ment something was wrong with the car, and when i told them it was supposed to sound like that, they didn't understand why someone would want to hear their exhaust, much less make it louder.

I think we all came into the scene like that, but eventually we grow and become more mature, and realize the things that we like, regardless of what the scene demands. I used to be like that also, I had a V6 with a Flowmaster, a system, and a bodykit. Around here, that's what cars were. Nobody drives fast cars around here, it's all for show. However, I started going to some real car shows, and I signed up for various forums... that was when I decided what I wanted. I mean hell, look at me, I'm selling a fully forged 8.8:1 blown LT1 to start over- with another LT1. Forced induction just isn't my thing. I think we all become more unique as we continue to have experiences with our cars, bad or good. A year ago I would have never even thought of defending a Ford or a Honda, now it seems like that's all that I do.

I like Honda's and have owned one. If I owned one again It would have to be a Mugen. But I could never waste my money on 5 tv's and 4000 watt stereo and a LCD screen on the fuel cover. That to me is comical and has nothing to do with performance which is what my interest in cars is all about.
My respect to you and others that like this hype is that I do not come out and say it is a POS or a clown car, or the root of all rice. No disrespect.

i enjoy it in much the same way that "kids say the damndest things" is ammusing.
apparently they've never heard the concepts of diminishing returns, and continue to swear that "IF" their favorite import manufactuer "made a v8", it would be so much better than our crappy american technology... and they never stop to wonder WHY honda or nissan or mitsubishi isn't putting 500hp+ n/a v8s in $30k cars... or even thinking about doing such things.
accusing GM engineers of being "dumb rednecks" because the ls1 makes 350hp instead of whatever you think it should make, reflects more upon your ignorance than any supposed failing of theirs.
