Stock 5.0 vs Y pipe only LS1 Camaro; dragging that ass!

Maybe try some hooked on phonics?

For the record the car in the vid also run a full exhaust/tuned 5.0 liter. It was a closer race.
The camaro does not have LS6 heads either, it has 853's. The Mustang owner was butt hurt and trying to list more mods for the Camaro so it didn't look as bad, and it doesn't have an SLP intake added on.... It came with the one from the factory. He was listing factory equipped parts as "mods".
The 5.0's just don't live up to their reputation.

This makes me feel like my car is a POS for running door to door with a stock 5.0 giving it all I had with mods in sig... Mine should be a good bit above 328whp too so it's confusing but I guess I just have a weak running car.

"LTs/ory/magnaflow, lid, p&p tb, mgw short throw, Ram HDX clutch, 160* stat, stb, adj. panhard, walbro 255lph, couple free mods
Tuned by Horsepower Sales of Florida"
How much power did you make? Why not do chris1313/ssra mod? I picked up a solid 1-2 mph with that.
Also get lighter skinnies up front and drag radials, that will cut .2-.4 tenths and add another 1-2 mph.
Go to a true duals setup, I had an ORY that I sold(was going to put it on my car).
What rpm do you shift at?
Weight of the car? If you have a sound system that could be an extra 100-200 lbs.

Yup...
Except I wouldn't call it a 'reputation', per se... . A Reputation is what something has, for what it's 'done' or 'doing'.
This 5.0 thing is more like a ... Myth.
Yes... I'd say the more accurate statement would be:
Also, it seems to me that part and parcel of that myth, is that the comparison which holds that the 'stock LS-1'-v- 5.0 is equal.
These are 14-15-16 year old cars competing with squeaky, new 5.0s. Some of these LS guys are sitting on heads with 175k miles on 'em.
My first build, car had 160k, for the heads, I got a complete head-job.
And I don't mind tellin' ya... it came with a HAPPY ENDING! That one thing, made a significant difference. Simple 3 angle grind, new seats, seals, springs, roller-rockers.
And I'm not saying that every single car is loosing significant performance due to seriously worn heads... but every single car with serious worn heads is losing something, with some losing worse than others. (tip of the hat to the dude who was door to door with the 5.0).
If the OP car has a junk yard engine, it's entirely possible that he has a set of - fresh to considerably fresher heads. I mean if the engine came out of a 40k mile rear-end total, it's a much more legitimate contest.
'Sal I'm sayin'.

My Buddies Tune only car on racestars went 12.2 at 118
Not sure how many LS1's do that but to each their own I ran 12.9's in which some would consider factory mods in my Heavy *** TA/Formula (Trans AM interior, Formula WS6 cloned exterior) on 17's and shitty street tires the slip is floating around here some where
