5.0 vs LS1. We know who wins.

Well driven a manual ls1 in good weather should at least trap 106... My worst trap was a 103 and that was 3200DA and a very bad launch, missed 3rd and coasted (ran a 16 something). The rest of my runs that day were 104-105 that day. Even with my pathetic *** driving in good weather it went 107 as a worst and 108 as a best... FRA got me 109 traps.
Hell nearly every a4 ls1 car I've seen at Cordova (friends who owned them not just random cars) has managed 105 traps.
Of course I do know of a 98 car for whatever reason was lucky to trap 103... One guy eventually had to fix his knock sensors and found the rocker needle? bearings in the oil pan.
No. All 5.bros running 12.4 is like saying every fbody runs 12.8. I won't deny it's happened but to make it seem like every car off the lot can run the same is insane.

Hold on, working on the LS3 swap as we speak. Need to drop some weight too... to make up for the lower trap after the new motor.
TRASHCAN did last fall, and that was fun, but no one else did.

If you were in Minnesota I would run ya, still have not had the pleasure of running one on the street and have not seen one run better than 13 flat at my track, I run 13.2 @ 107 Lt, ory, tune, stock cat back, a4 with 2.73s, I now have 3.73s but not slip with them

Probably 118 trap with those 3.90's. Those LS1's!

That'd be fun! I'm in NE though, so we're a bit far apart, but I appreciate the fact you accepted. It's rare with all of the Internet BS.

But but the ls3 is such a better motor

This is the exact point that I was attempting to make. Both sets of fanboys tend to get a bit carried away.

Exactly... I've said it a million times... A weak 5.0 could lose to a strong ls1... Chances are not good but it's possible. (That's considering optimal conditions and good drivers in each) The automatic dismissals just drive me nuts...

I'm not doubting this is impossible just a little out of the ordinary. There are always cars that will run better and cars that will run worse. It's a Z28 too so it should be fairly light.
That being said wouldn't be surprised if it had an LS6 cam though. A local guy had a similar car to yours and did 113 with similar mods to yours. Later on he found out the previous owner had installed an LS6 cam.
Either way good running car.

So does the car have cats or not? I remember a while ago in your sig it sat no cats.

Thanks.
Before and after tune.
My dyno compared to friends 1999 Camaro SS with ls6 intake, full exhaust, udp, ported tb. Look at the x intercept for both cars.

PS my car weighed 3430 lbs with me in it.
Car weighs 110 lbs less than my friend's c5 auto vette.
I have Competition engineering 3 way drag shocks set at 50/50 rear, lower control arms, panhard bar, weld-in subframe connectors.
Car is good for 12.2-12.3 on tire.... did 12.4 on all season street tires. With 3.90s it should run a little harder.

Do not put 3.90's in it.
