Lets Define what a "Street Car" is..
We all have seen this term taken too far.. You set up a race and next thing you know the guy shows up with a track car on a trailer and wheelie bars. I would like to see what the whole "racing community" now days considers an actual street car. I would like to add up the stuff mentioned here if most of us can agree on it. Let it begin!
A street car must have.
-Registered, tagged & insured
-Working headlights, brake lights, & turn signals
-At least 1 driver and 1 passenger seat
-Windows must remain operational (can be auto or manual)
-Factory Dash
-Full Interior specifically -rug, door's plastic panels, plastic covers inside the car (rear delete seats ok)
-No lexan glass
-A/C optional
-No wheelie bar
-Stock Firewall
-Drag Radial tires (no slicks)
Keep it coming ...

If it's tagged and insured with working head lights and tail lights and can drive down the street, it's a street car. People like to get their personal preferences involved as that's where the argument comes into play.

I don't give a **** what people call their street cars. MY street car will have AC, PS, full interior (no bare metal bullshit, race seats are fine I guess but I like my seats), and be able to take for a cruise without having to stop for some stupid reason other than gas. I can drive it to the track and back.
Just because your lights work and can drive down the street doesn't mean it is a street car. Street Outlaws cars = not street cars. Drag Week cars = mostly not street cars. It's cool that they can drive on the street, sure. Other than that, nope.
But again, I don't give any ***** as to what people call their cars. I'll call bullshit as I see fit. Call it whatever you want as long as you can live with it.
You can call this a 'street car' all you want. It ain't.

It does not matter what is done to classify a car as "street".
It simply comes down to how well one argues the point or justifies its mods as being "streetable". It is really just a play on words.

Just as example. We all know the show Street Outlaws. Can we really consider some of those cars "street cars" ??? Come on...

Full interior, full un-modified body, windows roll up+down, all exterior lights, no slicks, no roll cage, no parachute, working heat, insurable, registered.
Pretty much, you can do whatever you want to the engine/exhaust ( in areas where emission tests aren't performed ), but it has to be pretty close to what the factory version looked like and it has to drive smoothly for long periods without overheating.
I think thats a fair description. Basically, it has to be comparable to a " regular " car. Its a different story when your car has no hood, gutted interior and overheats after 2 passes.

This argument has been going on since the old fastest street car shoot outs in Memphis back in the early 90's.
In my opinion (and we all know what that's worth);
Working windows all windows OEM glass.
Working headlights, brake lights, & turn signals.
Registered, tagged & insured year round.
Able to drive over a speed bump.
Able to drive over 50 miles without stopping for gas.
Runs commonly available gas from a gas station.
Able to drive in congested traffic without overheating.
Like I said just my opinion.
