So what would you call a non stock internals engine?

People will overglorify anything and everything. Not all BBCs run great. They are setup dependant just like everything else in the world. It's a very mild build, thus, very mild performance. Nobody should be shocked here...

With the old big block muscle cars you really just never know what you're getting into since they all sound so damn good anyways lol

Someone please explain this to Hio. A blackboard and chalk may be needed though.

Lol, it's impossible to explain anything to someone who thinks that they have nothing to learn.

So all "built" BBC 454's "should" do this and that. Just like all "built" SBF 302's "should" do this and that, correct. Using Hio logic, BBC 454's in general are weak. Lol

Edit: My apologies for going off topic.

+1

That combo on that 454 in the Camaro sounds so far off its not even funny..
First there is no "pink" rods for a BBC...that's a small block rod... Next, square port heads are TERRIBLE performers at best.... Unless its a solid flat tappet or roller that you can spin to 7k to make power... those heads don't even START to flow until 5000+...Which more then likely his mild cam is already done by...

That comment about 454s with square port heads and solid flat tappets making 600hp all day/every day is hilarious.....

And I guarantee you that 79 Camaro is heavier then 3400 lbs..... Probably 3600lbs before the driver weight.

Takes a lot of work to make an old tech motor (SBC or BBC) run with any well thought out LS..... (this coming from a BBC guy)
