2015 Corvette C7 Z06 vs 2014 Viper TA
Gotta say really thought the Z would of pulled the Viper pretty sad. I expected more out of the FI vette. But to be fair the corvette owner says after 130 mph its like hitting a brick wall. Car is heat soaking really bad. Has to be that tiny *** blower on their witch was stupid on GM's part. Both cars are bone stock.

The vette needs the driver mod........and the automatic is now the way too go for thefaster car.
As far as hitting a brick wall after 130.......that's aerodynamic down force at work. Down force is drag.....just drag you want.

That downforce is only if you get the package for it IIRC. Doesnt look like it has it.

Watch the car bobble on the shift. That's when it losses ground. Also notice on some of the runs it's pulling on the viper right before the shift. Maybe the driver of the vette could've turned it a little harder to.
All vettes have down force now. The options are for more down force.

I knew this was going to happen. As soon as I saw those track videos from Road Atlanta, where the Z06 struggled to hit 150 on the back straight, I knew videos like this were only a matter of time. Bone stock C6 Z06s can do 150 on that straight just fine, and ZR1s easily do 160+.
The new Z seems to hit a wall at 130mph and accelerates far slower than a car that powerful should. At first, I though it was because of aero drag; the Zs in the RA videos all had Stage 3 aero. But this is Stage 1, it looks like, and the problem is still there. In the driver's words over on the Corvette Forum, the Z "falls on its face" after 130, and it also overheated several times just doing these brief pulls, in the middle of Winter. Not good. Not good at all. Summer is going to be brutal on these cars.
Also, according to one of the more prominent tuners on the forum, the C7Z might be sandbagged from the factory; the ECU is designed to aggressively pull timing, meaning the car is actually slowing itself down. Some suspect this was done to ease the burden on the supercharger, because GM knew the thing wouldn't last long at WOT.
The ****, GM? You bring out your new Big Dog 'Vette, one of the most highly anticipated new cars in recent memory, and on its first outing it gets eaten alive by a Viper? And a TA at that, a car that is actually SLOWER than regular Vipers due to aerodynamic tweaks, much like the Z06 itself. It wasn't even a worthy fight; that was straight up rape.
I know the Z06 is designed as a track weapon, not a drag racer, but this is just sad, with the car overheating and possibly sabotaging itself by pulling timing. If it can't even handle a few highway pulls in freakin' December, what's gonna happen on a road course? I'm seeing it now, Motor Trend's next Best Driver's Car competition, Laguna Seca in the middle of California Summer...The car that was one of the early favorites to take the whole thing, the C7 Z06, taken out of the running entirely because it can't even complete a single lap without going into "limp mode" and cutting power.
Looks like I made the right decision in not pulling the trigger on one months ago. I wonder what GM will say/do about this? Because this won't be the last video of its kind, not by a long shot. There's probably a Z06 out there right now that's getting walked by a fat-*** Hellcat Challenger, and the video will be up here tomorrow. Ugh, this is not going to end well."

Torque management likely kicking in at the "weak spot-130-160" to prevent from hurting anything. Fortunately, a hand held programmer will fix that problem when released.
On a side note, I would like to see interior shifting video of this race.....just to appease me on the shifting technique.

Heat soak is a bitch!
Pullies + toon + CAI + headers + copious cooling mods and the C7Z might get in front of the Viper. lol
PS. Lil Baby 1.74L blower FTL

My car freight trains all the way to 160 on the back straight of VIR before I have to start braking for the next turn. Can confirm, no brick walls here.
I knew heat was going to be an issue with the Z06. ZR1 wasn't this bad, but C6Z06's would be lapping ZR1's before long on extended track sessions. This here is the problem with putting a baby blower on a track car. Just wait until the hot months. C7 Z06 should have been naturally aspirated, just my meager $0.02.

Saw this video yesterday, they even got a video of a C7 Z06 trying to run down a Ferrari 458 Italia (however you spell it). Honestly, c6z >> any z06 ever made. The new C7 Z06 is ugly as **** and gay as hell. C6z all the way. But the new C7 Z06 is gonna put in some work with minimal modding.
