Default 150 Shot LT1 = Cammed, bolt-on SS (Southie)

Just ran a friend of mine who has an LT-1 TA with a 150 dry shot, intake and a cutout. Let me tell you $ for $ that's one wicked setup.

We went from a 45 roll, 3 honks, he got the jump, I was hanging behind his rear bumper and we held even to about 105.

We then went from a 30 roll, I said **** it, I'm throwing it in 1st (not the best idea at all- do not attempt this without a high rev limit), wound out what little was left in 1st (shift light went off damn fast - I would not do this again boys and girls), and got a tiny jump. Cars held even 'till about 105 again with him at my rear quarter panel.

Funny thing is that the outcome of the runs were pretty much calculated on paper by doing the math, and we got what we expected.

It would be interesting to see what would happen from 105-130.

Nice runs Sparks. Get your new clutch, it will make your setup all the more dangerous.

Simple but effective. South ... why don't you juice that badboy? And you need some slicks/DR's now that you have that 9inch in your ***.

Nice race.

Nice race.

Hey, hey, watch it with the 9" jokes...
I drive on Nittos all the time too.

As for the juice, I'm gonna hold off on that for quite some time.
I'm finally installing my new heads on Saturday.

So, yes, for very, very little money, an LT-1 can be made damn quick.

Which heads did you get? Good races. Your car should be pretty quick with the new heads.

i fear im gonna get owned with his new heads. but with a clutch and bottle warmer and maybe the ported heads i have sitting here it might still be a good run once again.

Honestly, I doubt it. On that cam those heads will give him some significant power ... and he should own you pretty bad, especially from a dig (granted he learns how to drive .. haha). The ported heads will not give you the power his will since you lack the cam to take full advantage of them. If I were you I would just up the shot, or hook up a dual stage, and hope for the best.

Unless you're running a larger LT1 cam like an 847 or a 306, you're gonna get owned. Think about it like this- if your lungs can hold a lot of air, it won't matter unless you're mouth can open wide enough to take in air to make use of your new lungs.

Did that make sense?

Anyhow, get a large cam and heads and you'll take him. You'll also want a number of things to complement that setup though, like some longtubes and a big stall if you're on an A4.

Well, we can look at it this way;

The best net gain I'll see out of those heads is about 30-40hp.
I'm in the low 390's as of last dyno. 390 to be exact.
If Sparks can also increase his output by 30-40 ponies, we're even again.

I'll be really happy to see 430 rwhp next week with the new heads.

What's up C? Your bud Tom here in WPB.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. So the next time we meet at Moroso you WILL have more power than me! 11's for damn sure.

I finally got my Spec 3 in yesterday, now to put on 400 stop-n-go miles before I get on it.

What's stopping you from going N20? For me, it's the $$.

See you after the 5 month heatwave?

Haha ... if Carlos doesn't dip into the 11's with 430 hp to the wheels, a 9 inch, and some DR's, he should hang himself.

I say he gives it to me first

good luck Carlos, hope your dynoing and tuning if you need it goes well. Time to slap a TNT F2 or a nice little NX kit on the car and you will be on your way to rock bottom 11's and QUICKER!!

Hey thanks all.
The tear down starts tomorrow morning.

Funny thing, this hole 11's thing has been such a long ongoing joke, that I myself think it's hilarious. My buddy put it best today, he said...

"Carlos, you're like George Steinbrener of the Yankees... if at first you don't succeed, you buy your way into what you want, now you're truly gonna have a bonafide 11's car -WITH YOU DRIVING IT- , you've actually had an 11's car for about half a year now".

That comment made my day.

Haha, it's so true, and you have come so close ... just never quite got there.

I hope I don't have that same long "joke."

With 413/383 to the wheels, I may be the next one that gets hung up on that fence
