Being an ex-ricer, the time that you are gonna have to worry about this kid is near the end, i had a Turbo Eagle Talon and raced a 99 civic hatch, all motor no turbo and near the end he like a 1/2 a car length from my me, my time was a 13.6 at 99.xx. Depending on who built the engine, how many psi he is running, and the nitrous system, i would not dismiss that car, just make the friendly "loser fills the winners tank bet" but there are way to many unknowns in this case to say that ur a def. shoe in for winning

I dont have that much cash on hand just to go out and buy NOS i just bought those Nitto drags. so i would have to save up for something like that. plus im kind of scared to put NOS in my car i dont want to **** it up, i think i would rather put 500 into a bigger cam or something.

he has a b18 with a turbo but he is only boosting 5 0r 6 pounds cause the compression on a B18 is too high for more boost unless he wants to blow his engine.

i raced his friend with a 350 z with a 75 shot of NOS and bet him so bad that he was going around telling everyone that i had Nos because there was no way i could have beat him. This civic guy comes up to me and asks me if i want to race for 300 bucks. but he told me that i couldnt use my Nos. my friends and i just laughed in his face. anyways i had 200 bucks but he said 300 or nothing so we didnt race. what a confident little ****** huh.

Just race him. Odd's are you will beat him. Don't convince yourself that your car is slow. Don't think to much into it. Just go there with confindence (not cockiness) and race.

Why don't you show up with DR's to begin with?

I have nitto drags for now. my friend with a Z28 has Mickey Thompson Slicks. I will probably show up in those since he will be running on his MT.

The mighty domestic guys are afraid of an import?? What happened to no replacement for displacement??

Funny.

Anyway, you guys take this junk too seriously. If that was me, and it was some high school kid, I probably wouldn't race him at all. Just like if some 12 year old came up to me a challenged me to a boxing match.

If you want to race him, make it friendly. If you lose, you lose. Somebody has to. Get over it. It should be fun. Not excruciatingly painful (like this thread..."CAN I BEAT HIM IF I DO THIS THIS AND THIS AND HE DOES THIS THIS AND THAT?"). Ugh.

I am not afraid at all i have raced a bunch of hondas already and have only lose 1 to an integra with a fully built LSVTECH. The thing is this guy wants to race for some big cash and im kind of short on that right now.

Anyone here scared of little civics that make more noise than HP? Apparently this is his 1st street race and he know the little tricks of street racing. He is just consulting for advice. OH, and I haven't see a replacement for displacement yet...

Afraid? i wouldn't say afraid. wary is a better word. for every 9 or 10 guys in riced out cars who think they're the ****, there's 1 or 2 who actually are. you've just got to be on the lookout for those who can back up the attitude, especially if you're gonna put money on the line. not to mention that, as often stated, anything can happen on the street. the car that you could beat by a full second down at the track may very well edge you out in a street race, for any one of a couple dozen reasons.

also, i believe the infrequently stated pretext to your quote makes it: "all else being equal, there is no replacement for displacement.", and that pretty much is true. it's just taking the statement, and using it as a taunt to those with smaller engines (and a lot of guys with big displacement engines ARE guilty of this), that causes misconceptions.

Who says im scared of this *******. yeah he is a honda. and yeah it makes alot of noise but i have seen this guy personally take out a 2002 camaro ss but 2 cars. the ss was complety stock and running on street tires. he wont race me unless i put down at least $300 bucks, that is how confident he is. im not scared at all but im just being careful because a B18 turbo with NOS is not just any normal honda engine.
