Default Little ole' LT1 Vs 14/15 Challenger SRT8

Ran into a 14/15 SRT8 challenger on the freeway today. We ran about 4 or 5 times along with a little messing around. Every time I pulled on him. I was surprised how much I was able to get on him.

I still have 3.23's with my 6 speed as well. LE1 Heads/cam and exhaust. The usual.

We did a run from about 60 in 3rd gear for me and I put about 1.5 cars on him to the top of 5th gear. One of the runs I started in 4th and pulled on him again.

He was behind me and tried to pass me in the next lane, I could see him get the jump. Threw it into 3rd when he got to my back wheel and stopped his pull even with his jump start. haha.

I didn't think they were that slow especially with my god awful long 3.23's. Im glad my ole' LT1 can still hang with the new big boys of the muscle car world.

not a 100% sure. it did look brand spankin new though. Regardless its one of there top models which makes it even sweeter. Its still a fast car, just figured he would have pulled on me. He was cool though, he threw me a thumbs up.

not sure, havnt dyno'd it with the new heads and cam. Llyod Elliot said it should be around 360 at the wheels with what I have done to it. Its just a LE1 setup. mild cam 223/231 .565/ .571 112.

For sure, it was a good clean race. I'm Proud of the old LT1 still being able to hold its own after 18 yrs.

Did it have halo running lights in the front? Your car ran good enough to not see tail lights so I won't ask if it had 71' style tail lights lol. If it did it was a 15'. If you gear that car to not run at Talledega you will be even more proud. I just went from 3.89 gears in my 383 to 4.30's on a 28 tire. All I gotta say is damn I love my old LT1.

yes, it did have the front halos. I believe it did have the 71 style taillights. 2 individual taillights not connected in the middle??? Not sure how to describe it.

Yeah, gearing is definitely on the list. I was in third gear forever it felt like. I heard him shift from 3rd to 4th and I was still at like 5000 rpm in third. haha.
