Thunderchicken is a very unsuspecting car, but needs lots of weight reduction.

Pretty much my experience with my 92 super coupe. Bought it with body damage, rod knocking, and bum synchros. Rebuilt the motor, trans, did the body work and it ran great for a while. Then I bounced off the rev limiter in a puddle of water and bent a rod. Fixed that, got it all back together and I either fucked up the build or missed something, because it was knocking bad.

Swapped in a 94 motor with the better blower and there was something seriously out of balance with the motor. It would shake the car apart at idle, so I cut my losses and sold it.

The day I got it running:

And the day I finished painting. It had flaws all over it, but it was my first true build and I was happy with it. Hoping to recreate it, only much better.

It's difficult to get an accurate curb weight on those cars, but 3600-3800lbs is in the range. Best 1/4 mile time I've found on the 4.6L T-bird is 15.8, with most running in the 16.2 range.

A Mark VIII with exhaust, tune, and a 4.56 gears went 13.7@106. The T-bird is a couple hundred pounds less than the Mark.

I am thinking budget C head 4V swap, stall converter, exhaust, 4.10 gear, tune, little bit of weight reduction, and a 1 piece driveshaft will have me into the 12's.

They're really good daily drivers and can be had for next to nothing. I got mine with a bad transmission for $400.

The GTO was more of a necessity than anything. My Vette was dead, and I needed something to drive. The price was right and it did it's job well. Sold it once I got the vette back on the road.

We can line em up man. I do this all in fun... too many people take it way too seriously... Hope I can get the car setup right before end of the year. Still waiting on that lottery hit

Hammah...hammah....hammah... them positive DA 118trap Camaros would trap 122ish in the -2000da the other ran huh? Wow... a stock car running almost 10mph more trap than the average stock ones.... lol... looks like the 6gens are redefining the meaning of Br0stock huh?

We shall call it SisStock

HOLY ****!!!!!!!! wtf???? Is that an actual compliment you posted Hio? About a 5.0? about MY 5.0? Holy ****!! Never thought I would see the day. lol... although I appreciate it.

Now papp's car actually runs on the faster side of the bro's I've seen, bone stock and modded for his weight. His car definitely ran better stock, and modded than 98% does around me. Last week at the track one ran a 14.77 @103 and most were all over the place in the 13's with a couple 12's. I have most on video.

So I really don't see an issue comparing the ones that are being mentioned. Poppa's car runs really good IMO, I think his car has been at the higher end of what they run stock and modded. So I think it should be compared to the faster runs of a bone stock 6th gen, yes? No shame in modding to keep up, we all have to do it.

But I will keep this in mind though for the next bashing of the ls1 needing mods to run with a 5.bro

I'll also add, that no matter if someone can admit it, the 6th gen is hurting feels, or people wouldn't act like it's no big deal that it takes mods to beat a stock one. I've sure read my fair share of crap being slung our way about needing mods to hang with a bro. So it has to mean something. It's funny that it's come full circle now, no? I lol'd
Its all good man. I give the 6gens props for being fast out of the box. I do have to trash talk though because its what makes it all fun. I like the back and forth sometimes. I am having a hard time understanding why I have not seen one local yet, or at the track. I honestly would like to run a stock one, and a tune/tire one. I might lose... I might win.... I do not care though.. like I said.. its all in fun.

Not yet, but hero DA hasn't even been good this year so far. Just give it time. Eventually someone will run mid tens in a stock 6th gen.

The only real wr notche's ls1 had was a drag pack , the cat back and a light battery. So roughly similar to you.....and goin similar speeds. No doubt it would gap you on the roll to.
5br0 are not that impressive. They only caught up to 2002.
Remember that time you sent us pics of how cut up Nathan's car was? I do.

Kind of like the "stock manis" he touts, yet he took the time to take said stock manis off and port them yet still downplays them as stock to make Nathan's ls1 look better and how "simple" it is.

Pulling stuff off the car and ported it is considered Bolt ons.... at least in Hio's delusional world. Matter of fact... from here on out, my car will be described as bolt on... just like Hammer, and Hios... they can wonder about what I do to the car just as much as everyone else wonders about theirs.

I'd like to see the pictures. May give me some ideas for the tin can Camaro project.
