15' Scat Pack A8 VS. 14' ZL1 TR6060 Coupe
I was on my home in the silver whale and a Black 14' ZL1 was sitting at the turn lane as I went thru the intersection. He was waiting to turn and head the same direction I was so I cruised 10 under the speed limit so I would catch the next light. Knowing the next light opened up to two lane and it was a perfect place to run, I was hoping he would catch up and get up beside me. Well as I rolled up to the next light it turned red like expected. I was sitting at the light with nobody next to me watching for the cars coming up from the previous intersection. There was a Malibu and a Chevy Silverado in front of the ZL1. As they catch up the truck initially moves over to take the open lane at the light then gets back over behind me. Almost like he knew the Camaro was there and saw me sitting at the light. Once the truck moved back over the Malibu stays with the Silverado and the Camaro pops out and moves over to get next to me. JACKPOT!
So we are sitting at the light and as the light turns green I see a state trooper sitting at the light to the right of us heading East/West as we are heading North/South. I just take off a little faster than normal and the ZL1 must of saw him as well. He keeps pace but we both know better than to try anything. He was behind me a few cars and flashes his running lights at me after we get up the road a ways. Seeing that I drop back and get next to him. Older black dude in his 50's that ended up being pretty damn cool. He yelled out "there was a trooper back there." I said yea I saw him. There was nobody in front of us so I motioned that I would honk it off at the next street crossing. There are no more roads for a clean mile after that. I drop it down to 1st at 20 and honk it off. I pull out immediately a car and a half and slowly pull out to almost 3 cars to 100. From 100-115 He sat back there and had my pull stopped. We get up to the next light and he said he started out in second gear. He also said my car ran damn good and he asked if it was a Hellcat lol. I told him no it was a 392 with a CAI and deleted CATs. So we did one more short blast before he turned off. This time with him in first from 20-70 we were dead even on the hit and I gained a half car as he shifted to second. We shut down with me a half car out and he had to turn off.
All in all I was happy because ZL1's are capable of high 11's with a good driver and easy 11's on a DR. Just what a A8 Scat Pack Challenger is capable of in my book. Especially with me having some bolt on's.

I am not sure if a stock low option A8 Scat Challenger is faster or not. I would say the ZL1 is faster. I do think mine with mods is though. Especially down low. As funny as that sounds. The cars are very similar in weight. Maybe the low option Scat being a little lighter. Then again mine always gets good gas, has a good street tire and a few mods that made a difference SOTP. I would say a ZL1 should have a couple MPH on a stock one.
Other notes on a few cars I have ran recently. Put a car on a 400whp 50 trim SRT-4 from 60-125. That same SRT4 was dead even with my friends 97' GTS Viper with smooth tubes doing the same roll.

Obviously I love MOPARs, and just saw the best looking sublime Challenger SRT today. Anything can happen on the streets but, that ZL1 needs a driver mod. Probably only had it in mode 2. Unless it's in mode 5 (race), the power is restricted.

I just happened to run a Scat Pack A8 this afternoon in my 13' ZL1 M6. My experience was exactly opposite as the OPs. It wasn't even close. I love MOPARs and can't believe I'm actually driving a Chevy. I will go back to my MOPAR SRT ways or maybe even Mustangs again with the GT500. I won't buy another Chevy unless one of the top 3 falls in my lap like this one did. The ZL1 is nice and faster but, it is not my SRT.
