GT350 vs 6th Gen

I think it will be. Gt 350 is geared like ****. It has a very feminine powerband and needs way steeper gears for drag racing. Off the line they sound like an 80's dodge caravan pulling a pontoon boat.

That's my exact thought process on it Kenny. I AM a Ford guy too and am pro coyote. With the dealer mark up, hype, etc I was expecting more out the box with the 350. Don't get me wrong I do not dislike the car but think a 6g is a better bargain for the money. The problem is the 6g set the bar so high now almost anything stock is going to seem subpar. On the other hand this is a wet dream today when you look at the 392, 6g, 1Le, 5.0, and ls3 c6 and base C7's. Who would have though that cars out the box are high 12/very low 13 second cars and we have a choice to choose from. Once you are talking Vipers, C7Z's, amg, and M cars as well as Porsche's the average Joe cannot pick one up and are in another category unless a very base 1lz non optioned Z car. Still edging to see what the new 1le's are going to do when they drop.

New 1le likely won't be much quicker than a regular ss. Better traction and only being availible in a 1ss probably help it a little. It's a shame they didn't add a light clutch to that package.

I don't think it sounds terrible. I look at it this way, Ford had a great sounding 5.0. Always has. Arguably the quintessential Domestic V8 sound. But they come out with the 350 which sounds like a weird mix of domestic and exotic. Which I am a domestic guy, and like that sound. I don't hate other cars. Just like my domestics, and the domestic sound. If that makes any sense I guess lol.

GT350 exhaust sounds way better in person than it does on vid.

The car and driver comparo was with the base 350. The GT350R would almost definitely surpass the Z51 C7, perhaps a grand sport? Not sure on the last front, but around a track those Cup II's are beasts, the added downforce, and the lighter wheels pay dividends performance wise. Car is still a couple hundred IBS heavier than a vette, but regardless it was made to compete with the Camaro.
Acceleration wise, I have no doubt, that even from a dig it can beat an A8 6th gen. I will add that the driver will need to be near flawless with his launch and shifts. Also, the race is close enough to were the 350 may not be able to real in the 6gen, if it gets too far away as we just saw. Also worth noting that the 6 gen was fully hooked up and almost in 3rd gear before the 350 shifted from 1st lol (road race gearing, Tall 1st and close ratios).
Either way both cars are awesome values. If you look at the track times that the 350 posts, its on par with Porsche's and other cars that cost way more.
The new camaro posts excellent numbers as well. Just an awesome time to be a gear head.
Another point I'll bring up is that these are both expensive. I know the camaro is cheaper but damn. 10 years ago we would all **** our pants if someone told us GM was going to sell a $40-$50k camaro and ford was going to do the same with the GT and $60-$70k for a special edition mustang. Point is that they are great VALUES but they are not cheap.

The 350R is the fastest one for sure, ahead of the Z28 by 1.16th of a second on a test around the same track (same driver, Randy Pobst), the nonR 350 was 1.79th of a second behind the Z28 (same track, same driver)...

I love how different the gt350 sounds. To me the a6/a8 c7 sounds odd. I remember the first street racing vids of h/c/nitrous c7s that were auto and I'm like wtf is that.
To each their own. Everybody is unique in what they like.

LOL
Dealers don't mark up their prices because a car is super fast. They mark up prices on cars they believe will sell regardless of price. Looking at dealer mark ups to judge the possible performance of a car is dumb.
