Excellent runs guys.
Jake, you said you like and prefer the gas mileage of your gears. 3.42s would certainly help out a noticeable bit and wouldn't hit the mpg's much. Car runs good though, with a few minor changes that thing could run pretty damn hard. Thanks for definitely not disappointing.
Chris, hats off to you for driving such a distance for the race. Good job to both of ya.

Everyone will probably flame me going off the posts here in srk, but it's all over this site and hopefully we can get a before and after.
Jake, do me a favor before you change gears and go get a base run to see what it runs with 2.73's. Then go back with the 3.42's and see what it runs then with gears being the only change. I would almost be willing to bet my car that you'll see maybe .1 tenth better in the 1/4 at the power level you're at. I know everyone thinks I'm crazy, but it's the truth and I'm trying to save you money lol. Just do some research on the tech side of this forum... higher stalled cars don't gain like an m6 does.
North of 500rwhp with a 3600+ stall I would say yes, but at these levels it is just not happening So get a before and after if you could. Also, if you have a yank ss3600 it will et/trap best launching at 1500-1600 rpms. I've tried at different rpms up to around 3300 and around 1500 was what worked best.
My bet is there will be less than a tenth gain and a 1mph drop in his 1/4 time. Gears before stall = good gain, but gears after a 3600+ stall in a sub 500rwhp full weight car = next to nothing gain but huge sotp gain. Good luck man
Edit: FYI gas mileage was better in town with 3.42's but was worse on the highway. So if you do 50/50 then it'll be a wash.

you must of missed it but I said the same thing...it was already determined that he needs to spin the motor higher. MS3 and 6300 shift point = no Bueno. I shifted my bolt-on only setup @ 6400 on the 1-2. 1-2 needs to be 7k, 2-3 6900, and it will be a different animal. Gearing does not effect high stall converters except at low speed. They help the converter feel "tighter" and take less rpm to get the car moving. The stall will always flash to the same rpm and have relatively the same shift extension no matter the rear gear. So yes 3.42 will probably be worth again 1 tenth or so. I would still do it for better drive-ability anyway.

Yeah his shift points are killing him because it's dropping too low on shifts to get it back in the sweet spot again. Mine was shifting at 6500rpms and it felt like it could have spun a little higher really. The 3.42's definitely were a lot more fun to drive around because it felt so much faster and the drivability was a little better, but not huge. The best thing I like about the 2.73's besides gas mileage was that they were very deceiving when you rode in it. A lot of people thought it felt slower than it really was and was easier to get runs with people.

I'm going to get the shift points put in the proper spots. And add some shift extension. The timing is also pretty conservative. How much timing would be ideal? The AFR is pretty conservative too.
And it's an FTi converter.
