Default 96lt1 vs 2004 Corvett

Let me first start of bye saying this was my first race in 2 years!!( I finnaly got the car running good enogh to even try and race)
Well I am very dissapointed. We raced 2 times. The first time was when he caught up to me intrafic and he tried to pass me I punched it when he was at my left rear wheel.(we were doing about 50mph) I put about 5 car lenghts on him.(by about 115mph) And i was happy. Then when we slowed down he said he wanted to go again. I was like NO. Becasue i new that after that last run my car would be a dog cause my intercooler heats up real bad its only good for 1 run. Well I had to be fair so i said ok. We went from a dig and I let him get a little jump on me casue i figure It would not matter anyways. Well he put about 3 car lenghts on me (wheel spin ) and I was starting to real him back in and I closed it back up to about 1.5 car lenghts and then we ran into traffic. (we were going about 90-100mph.

So i have a few questions. How much power do the 2004 vetts have. What do they run in the 1/4 mile. All he had done to it was some type of cold air intake and a tb.

I looked at my race log with him. And just like i thought My intake temps were around 125. And my air fuel went 9.24 most of the run. Which is why he said he saw a 4 foot flame come out my exhaust on our first run.

To make a long story short, Im sad that I lost the race , And i have to give the guy credit for taking me out

It has just been killing me the last 2 days. Since the loss, i have even thought about droping in an ls1. I hate losing more than anything in the world. EspecialY to a car i should have left way behind. I am parking the car for a few weeks cause i can not even stand to look at it right now. She let me down,

If you really think about it. I have more money into my car than he has into his. But after a few nights of sleep i am feeling better. I almost drove her this morning but i figure i will finish up her punishment and keep her grounded for the week. I think what i need to do is stop messing around. And get some real power. I mean if you dont have over 500hp now days you can not even compete.

I believe a Vette with those mods should be in the high 12's running around 110-112 mph. The Vette also weighs less than your car. That is another advantage to the Vette. Good runs and honorable death. If you would'nt have given him the jump it might have been a different story.

Well looking at the facts of things i did wrong, I know why i lost.
They are
1) A/F went to 9.24 from 3,000-5,200 rpms.
2) Iat temps were at 125 degress. (from my hour drive back to the city before the race)
3) I had about 200+lbs of extra weight in the car. My girl friend (125) tools (jacks sockets wrenches wratches and more in the back. Plus a full tank of gas just filled up when i got back to the city).
4) I should have never given him any type of jump at all , I though i was going to kill him, So no more mr nice guy.
5) Im not making any boost until around 4k rpms. I need to get more boost down lower.

But i have always said you got to race what your bring. And when you losse there is no BS to talk. Just shut up and take it. So props to the vet dude. Ill be seeing ya around. Watch out next time sucka. !!!!!!!

You need to take loosing to another car a lot less personally.

NEWSFLASH: There's always someone faster than you, unless you ride in a 4 sec dragster.

There are Honda's out there that will hand most of us our a$$es in a plate at a strip. Does that make our cars any less?
Is your personal happiness so tied up to whether you can beat every car you meet on the street?????

You seem to have a nice setup, so be happy with what you have.

Your story is similar to mine! My room-mate has a '98 Z28 w/
230/232 .590 .595 112 cam, hooker LT's,3.73's. We encountered our first Vortech LT1 supercharged camaro ever seen in real life last month . We were scared shitless to race it . To our surprise , our cammed Ls1 walked all over it.....all 3 times, 2 from a stop and 1 from a 20 roll. Till the owner claimed his setup wasn't right and went home .

I've read a lot about supercharged cars laying it down on the dyno, but not at the track.

Anyways I hope everything works out for you.

Your definatly right. You cant just bolt super chargers on these cars and then go out and smoke people. Thats part of the problem im not an expert, but im learning slowly. I Know my car has power. You can ask mustange htr. Who has raced me several times and who has seen my tail lights the majoity of the time. His car runs low 11s. And last time we raced ( a few weeks ago) he only got me bye half a car. And i was basicly still untuned then,
I need to make the car more consistant. And I will.
