Apearantly you forgot about the handling deficit the fox had vs the turdgen. Irocs were some of the best handling cars available in the 80s.

The 5gen just excelled at handling with its robust platform and irs. For the first time in a pony car you got true world class handling.

Agreed
The 3rd Gen 1le had the 12 inch rotors and vette calipers, better gearing, better sway bars, etc. For its time it was pretty good.
Back in the gen 1 days they had the old Z28 vs the Boss in the road racing where they were limited by CI rules. Was some hype there too.

But the 5g really was the biggest leap, it really put the domestic pony car on another level. It set the bar high, where the competition from the other manufacturers try too keep up and benefits everyone.

It really was too bad a v6 Regal could put bus lengths on them.

You should probably get a track pass in before you worry about our proximity.

Btw....since we are talking about handling you are about to get lapped.

I was talking about the turdgen vs the Buick. I've driven one before. Crappy experience. And it wouldnt even spin the tires in the rain... But thats fine. You dont have any track passes as of late either. So neither of us know what our cars will run.

I too have driven all 3 and like all 3. IMO none of them should be talked about when discussing a car that handles.

There is no doubt a turd gen would smack around the buick in handling. This is not even questionable.

Spinning the tires in the rain?? Really? You can't be dumb enough to think almost any v8 car wouldn't spin in the rain

If you're driving around a parking lot or up the street all 3 are fine. If you're actually pushing the limits of handling then yes the turdgen is a very clear winner. It's not even a good contest....especially if you bring the 1le in the discussion.

I had the turd of turds in a turdgen berlineta.....and it would spin the tires in the dry. I only bought it to flip but it was a 305 m5 car and ran ok for the time. Dads 85 iroc ran with some of the better 5.0s around here , handled like a champ and for the time had some of the best braking available.

Congrats? I really don't care how bad *** the turdgen was in the corners. It couldn't move out of its own way. My buddies IROC-Z would spin if I stepped on it from a dig, but after 20mph it keeled over. The GNX would more than handle the Camaro in the corners if it needed to. Stock GNs came with 215/65/15s . Its funny that an old Regal gets you all butthurt.

Bad setups. Needed maintenance. Doesn't take much for a GN to beat a 10.9x.. Hell, my buddy just went 10.80 at 127 with a stock motor and bolt ons. With a 1.85 60 to boot. Wish he could get that nasty 1.2x or 1.5x... Nice deflections though!
