Yesterday, Was coming back from the mall in the TA with the wife in the passenger seat, and I pulled up to a light next to some guy in a Black Mustang GT convertible, looked like a 2000-2001, and it sounded stock. I didn't look much at him, only the side to see if it was a cobra or something. The guy didn't even look at me as the light turned green, and we both rolled into the intersection at a normal speed, not racing or anything. All of a sudden, he mashes it, and the Mustang's exhaust gets pretty throaty sounding, not stock. So, in that instant, I figured i'd put him down, I should be able to do that, right? My wife owns a 2003 GT coupe, and it aint that fast. Anyway, he jumps out on me about a 1/4 car-length, and I downshifted into 2nd, and got on it. All I could do was keep neck-to-neck with him, both of us accelerating up through 50 to about 65 or so. I say or so, because I couldn't tell; the wife started yelling and hitting me with the book she had been reading. She popped herself in the face with the book with no warning of the sudden acceleration and was pretty mad about it.
The guy slowed down to go at it again, but all I could do is give him a thumbs-up since my turn-off was approaching, and the wife was still bitching.
Anyway I guess it wasn't too bad considering that I have about 200 lbs of stereo gear in the car, plus a passenger. I swear i'm gonna stomp him if I encounter him again.

No, I was driving my car, the TA:

Flowmaster exhaust
SLP 85mm MAF
Lid
K&N
FRA
Those are the only mods I have. I htink he had exhaust, maybe intake.

lol, i wonder if the guy got a kick out of seeing your wife laying the smack down!
since i got my trans am, i've thinking about sound deadening everything and putting in some nice tunes, but then i start thinking about that extra weight.
decisions decisions...

Well, Snootch those Flowmasters pretty much slow you down... but maybe the lid makes up for it? I dunno, but I doubt you are making much - if any - more power than stock.
I don't want to come off as an ***, because I am not crazy modded myself... but I would think that a Mustang GT is a pretty formidable foe, when modded and given a head start.

Find that GT and race it without your wife in the car.

HAHAHA OMG I JUST ABOUT **** MYSELF when i read that lol. Im at work too ! Everyone wondering why I just busted out laughing out of nowhere. A modded GT could be a good run for a close to stock ls1 up to like 85 or 90. An intake/exhaust & nice gear and maybe some pulleys.
Quick storie, my buddy had a 98SS w/ an intake (lid) & a cat-back (and I think an x pipe). My GT at the time had Intake xhaust (off road H) 3.73gear chip and ported upper intake plenum. We would run all the time and it would go just like this we would launch and I would get a 1/2 car or little better (cause the GT launches w/ less wheel spin), I would stay about a 1/2 or a little less up till 80-90mph and he would start creepin 4ward to pass me. The best part is as many times as we ran before he got rid of it and got a z06, we never went passed 95mph when we raced so it was pretty much close to even everytime. Them were the closest runs I ever had racing.
