I was on my way home from great lakes dragway after the outlaw street brawl qualifying. It was a little after 10:00pm and I was approaching I-94 saw a sleek looking sedan getting on 94 east since I was heading that way I was going to plat catch up to see what it was. This little shitbox of a car got in between me and the sedan so that slowed me down. As he was getting on the highway he floored up the on ramp couldn't here anything but it looked quick do to the fact I was still stuck behind this shitbox doing 5 under. Once on the highway It didn,t take to long to catch up. Iwas in the middle lane doing 70 as I creep up on this car I saw the GTO badge on the back of it. This is the first time seeing one drivin on the street. As I pull up next to him he jumps on it, I couldn't do to traffic in front of me. He gets a good four cars in front slows back down to get next to me again I slow to 60 and we stay there till traffic clears a bit. It was an older guy with his wife and someone in the back seat as well. When traffic cleared enough to get a good run in I honk three times and wait to see if he jumps and he didn't. I am looking at him like lets go he waves at so i'm like WTF. As I step on it he does to I put half a car on him because I jumped first I could here him next to me but I couldn't see him he was right in my blind spot, look to the side of the back window reel quick and I can see his taillights. look to side mirror I can just see the back of his car now in the mirror. Take a look at the speedo passing 100 and I get out of it as I look he is exiting the highway. My first time racing on the street would have really like to run him again I thought he was pretty quick I was only slowly puilling away. I looked at the GTO at a car lot and didn't think much of it, see out on the street and it looks a lot better and I thought it sounded pretty good to. What a great way to end a night.

The new GTO's are really nice cars, IMO... A bit heavier than F-bods, but still have the same sweet LS1 engine, and a nicer interior.

they are pushin 350 hp stock though to the few years older 305 ls1's arnt they ?

 

LS1 F-body = sorely underrated. The motors are almost exactly the same. Mine dynod 308rwhp stock... which is actually more than a GTO I'd say part of that can be found in the IRS, however.

I have seen several GTOs in my area. Twice on the road and came up on them, thought they were cavaliers at first and both times they had older folks 50+.

Just glad the older F-Bodies are still on top at Pontiac.
