Tq is power period. You could actually do the **** away with the hp number and use only tq @ rpm if one wanted. Tq don't mean only having low rpm power. Some engines get tuned to make power....tq at higher rpm. Tq us the only thing that accelerates you. It is the twsting motion that moves you. Because that's all a engine can make.
Trucks like tq at lower rpms.....race cars like it at higher rpms. They typically sacrifice lower rpm power for higher rpm power but it's all ******* tq.
You ever wonder why i say 5br0s don't run well up top? It's because of their tq curve. They make peak tq at around 5500rpm. There hp kinda floats along level from 6800ish to 7500ish . But that whole time tq is dropping. If you make 440whp but 360tq at that peak hp but your tq keeps falling but you're making the same 440ish hp you're not accelerating as hard. It's what they feel flat. All the modulars feel flat because of that. They just rev but the pull is gone.
I have no idea about the hemi vs the 428 ****. To many variables and I'm sure the scenario you said wasn't always the case.
If you think they're alot if variables in drag racing stay the **** off a road course. That scenario screams drivers are not comparable. Fact is a z28 readily hands a ss camaro it's *** on a road course as it should. The 1le camaro does very very well at closing that gap.......but it has nothing to do with power. It has to do with chassis dynamics and carrying speed.
