Ls suck!
True story I beat many LS cars with my SBC!
LOL LS are great engines but I'm a SBC guy and any engine can make a car fast with enough money & work. Also helps if you setup the car, for example my C4 Corvette people always ask me if it's a LT1 car and I get a kick showing them the TPI
Just noticed this section and thought I'd troll it LOL I'm just a slow corvette guy!

No, he's not.
No reason to go with a small block chevy build unless it's all you can afford, or some old school "gotta have #'s matching" build.
Get a better job, work more hour's if you have to but scrap the small block or sell it to someone who is in denial and dosen't know any better.
This thread is stupid.

Pound for pound / dollar for dollar the LS is King.................... Don't get me wrong there's some nice 434in small blocks terrorizing the streets with a bottle. But pull that thing up to a proper forged LQ4 with 20psi /3200lb f-body and a (good) tire. And as your sitting still, you can watch the magic happen....

I've been building SBC since the mid 70's. I've have had my hands on some rare race parts mostly from NASCAR teams (lived in Charlotte). Like the SBC 292 turbo castings that were the "holy grail" heads of the day. A set of Penske/Traco AMC heads from Allison's team when they switched to Mercury's in 1976... but that's another story. I love the small block, but not so blinded to see the vast improvement of the LS platform.
The LS engine is much more robust with it's 6 bolt mains, oiling system and gasket design. I've never seen a performance SBC that didn't develop an oil leak somewhere from internal pressure, usually in the two piece rear seal. Ever do a SBC in car camshaft swap??? You have to dogear ( \ / ) the front cover lips with a grinder to slip past the oil pan, easy leak area. The LS has superior cast front & rear covers along with cast valve covers... while only a handful of SBC even offered cast valve covers. Face it the stamped covers on a SBC are junk and will leak if slightly over torqued. The LS at 250,000 plus miles is still going strong compared to a SBC wore slap out at 90,000 miles.

I'm surprised you didn't bring u heads, I'm well aware of the many LS advantages over a stock sbc. Many of the things you do to improve or have to go aftermarket are already done to a LS. As I said in my first post the LS is a great engine but...
