I'd be super happy if I beat a c8. That's a 100k car. GM spent millions on R&D and couldn't keep up with a 20+ year old car. If I was the c8 driver, I'd be pretty annoyed lol.

I've always thought that from dig or roll there's a good chance the C8 would accelerate faster than my SS which is like 3900 with me in it and 540 rwhp. Explain to me how it could be fair in a roll race when 1-2-3 Go depends on how fast one's count was over the other?

ill happily address a few things here lol. obviously a street race isnt an exACT science lol. honking ,counting off a race is similar to timing a light from a stop. a better reaction can get you a win over a faster vehicle. better driving can get you a win also. in this situation myself and the c8 driver agreed for me to honk it off. im sure he thought as i did he had a faster car.
from what i looked into a c8 IS ACTUally heavier than an fbody. at least in my case. my SS weighs in at around mid 3400s and a c8 is high 3600s so ptw IN THIS CASE is very similar.
yes, my gears are sapping my top end. i recently switched from 4.10s TO 373s and noticed only a difference in OD as far as lower revs. my car gets out and tops out quickly. my guess is a slower roll i wouldve pulled a little more and higher speed rolls give an obvious advantage to a c8.
we agreed to run from a 40 roll and i posted the outcome. your posts and opinions are appreciated so keep them coming.

To answer your question. and yes the base model's curb weight is over 3600 and you've obviously done some weight reduction in order to get it down to mid 3400's, especially if this means race weight. The C8's are 11.6 to 11.2 cars which have a 2.8 second 0-60 mph with the new C8 Z06 running 10.6's in the 1/4. No way your hitting 0-60mph in 2.8 without some serious modifications. The transmission in those cars shft in milliseconds so either he wasn't serious about racing it or worried about breaking it. People have tried but with me it's either we run from the dig or no run at all because I don't race from a roll.

Not even competitive when you have a computer controlling the run. Looks like anyone could lay down a perfect pass.

Thanks man. I'm pretty sure the 01 could hang with a C8 in a 1/4 race but my best time so far on a 28x10.5 slick has been an 11.6 at 125mph. Hoping to get the 99 which is essentially a one trick pony into the 10's but one things is for certain the C8's are way better handleing cars then what we're driving but I still love the 4th Gen.

no **** on handling when we were playing in traffic i had to brake hard that c8 just switched lanes effortlessly and left me behind. nothing unsafe i just know these cars limitations.
yup, im the original owner of my 4th gen. theres not many around here anymore. when i see one i want to buy it lol.

I guess you could always sleeve your ls2, and make it a 454, a guy local to me did that, he runs 6.1@112 in the 1/8th mile. Pg with a Trans brake in a 98 z28. Nitrous would be cheaper, but n/a is cooler 😎

Why would a C8 waste his gas on an Fbody ?
